Need help picking backsplash tiles and wall paint colours
Comments (9)Thank you for your suggestions and ideas! I love some of the more daring/colourful ideas, but I don't think I'm, personally, bold enough to go with such a contemporary look. I'm going to stick to a traditional/modern style and use large (4" x 8") white subway tiles and dark grey grout. I'm thinking of using a dark grey paint around the kitchen walls and then a lighter shade around the rest of the room, with maybe the dark grey on the wall behind the TV too. Will be a few more weeks before that's all done, but I'll post a picture when I eventually get there. Thanks again!...See Moreneed help with curtain colour
Comments (39)Window shopping and lots of online browsing.! .haven't purchased anything yet!. Just getting house back in order after painting! I have put back the red/winey curtains that I previously had up...convinces me more to go with a neutral colour. The walls are rich Taupe but with a slight grey hue off them so I think the bottom left above actually might work. I have bedding very similar so I took them out and held up and think it would look very nice. Purple isn't a theme in my house (although I do have one bedroom painted purple/lilac) My sitting room is white red black and silver and living/kitchen room is tan and red. I want a rug that wont show up the dirt that much...I live in the country side and have lots of dirty feet coming in so I cant go for any rug that is too light in colour...See MorePop of Colour
Comments (4)I suggest creating 2 areas in this room, one conversational at the fireplace and the other for TV viewing. Move the TV to either the wall by the curved sofa or the corner where the end table is located in the image. Something larger on the mantel about the size of the firebox opening such as the mirror over the curved sofa. The mirror over the sofa should be lowered to about 6"-8" over the couch if you leave it as is. Select different toss pillows that are textured. Find a shag carpet that is larger and carries multiple beige and brown tones. Consider replacing the coffee and end tables with glass ones or fabric covered stripes. There is nothing wrong with monochromatic you just need to add the texture to make it work. If you are craving color think one color, such as midtone blue, green or red. Use it sparingly and replace any small decor with much larger items....See Morewhat color to go with this Blue wall paint.
Comments (12)I'm starting to really like the Blue+orange combo. Not one i would instantly have thought of, but I've seen a few pics online after reading your suggestion and i find it really cheerful and soothing at the same time. Thanks for the advice!...See MoreRachel H
