Exterior advice. Brick or hardi?

White hardi with black shutters, or brick? If brick, would you do away with porch handrails? Not sure if I would like the look of brick with white handrails, and iron wouldn't match my interior. If hardi, would def do white porch handrails. Suggestions?? Also, best suited brick choices?

Comments (22)What about 6 massive pots? Two one either side of the bay windows and one on either side of the front door. (I too have a massive gray gravel drive way. Trying to plant through the gravel brings on a whole other set of challenges. Pots are just more practical, for me anyway.) I love those trees in the lawn area.:) And the green trim. Comments (3)We are having the same dilemma, albeit we have a 1913 Edwardian red brick house. I've bought a dozen bags of gravel and still haven't found the right one. The golden gravel looks terrible, greys look depressing and pinks jar too much with the red brick! We are leaning towards Cotswold stone but I'm concerned this is too traditional (the rest of our landscaping is contemporary). I've concluded I don't like gravel but having spent £££'s on the rest of the landscaping gravel is my only option. We are one of their installers in Colchester and have four on display, if we are near enough pop in, if not just find a local installer. if you are after timber we supply Bereco, again go to their website, not cheap but beautiful. 9 years agoWe have to agree with Hardi, as the shutters will stand out more against the white siding. Attached are a few photos of 2 different homes with our black, functional shutters installed on white siding (just so you can see the impact they have).

9 years agoYour home will be fabulous whatever you do. Hardie is beautiful! I would also keep the handrail either way, but it's personal preference. However, with the brick, a black iron handrail would look better.
Even a Stone colored Hardie with black shutters & white trim would be gorgeous!
