An exotic elephant print from Old World Weavers is an accent on the pillows and cornices. A zebra print adds additional flair. The carpeting has an undulating tone on tone pattern that reflects a sand dune or wave effect. Furniture is from Lexington.

Located above Boulder, Mothertree follows the curve and slope of the land making strong connections to the earth and sky. Each outdoor connection is inspired by existing natural features: The Entry Courtyard encircles a small cluster of mature trees, the Northern Contemplation Garden is rocky with dappled light and a spiral fountain, and the South Patio is open, exposed and perfect for warming in the sun while enjoying the views from Boulder to the Denver skyline. A warm but bright interior palette includes bamboo cabinetry and built-ins, cork flooring, beetle kill pine, indoor-outdoor ceilings, and vibrant ceramic tiles, sinks and light fixtures made by the client, a ceramics artist.

CHALLENGE To create a sun room for all seasons, by transforming this space—made cold by long Chicago winters—into an area that can coexist with the adjoining formal living room yet come into full bloom for seasonal use in warmer weather. SOLUTION Winter: Areas rugs and unique drapery panels create a backdrop for a floor mirror that provides a focal point for dull, cold drafty days. Summer: Rugs and draperies are stored away, the mirror is repositioned, and summer seasonal slipcovers and accessories appear.

Soft whites and cheery blues make it hard to ever want to leave! We bring the outside in by matching the colours of the exterior home to the decor in the sunroom facing it. Complimentary shades of blue and white as well as rich wicker hues complete the look.

Sunroom or In-law Suite? This cleverly designed sunroom doubles as a sun filled in-law suite. It has a full bath with secure walk-in shower, walk-in closet and a bar type "kitchen" area. The opaque glass pocket doors welcome the main house to the new area while providing privacy when needed.

Architect: Michelle Penn, AIA Andersen 400 Windows and French Doors showcase this lovely sunroom. In another picture you can see the two sided stone fireplace. We used scissor trusses to create a cathedral ceiling.

A modern family living space is juxtaposed with a thoughtful antique area. Designed to make the most of the light from the large window, the neutral colour of the upholstery allows it to blend sympathetically with the more contemporary aspects of the room.
