Here's another view of the new open plan. This was a 50's house and the kitchen was completely enclosed with no windows. Opening it up and injecting some fun color into the space via the custom cabinets was a treat.

We love the contrast of the branch-like chair legs with the tailored upholstery of the cushions. It says comfort with a dash of nature brought inside. Because the two light fixtures are so close together, we chose the same style in different shapes for consistency. The faux candles surrounded by metal framework are a reference to the days before electricity, and a modern country accent.

If you are looking for a more informal dining room, then a selection of mismatched chairs in different materials such as moulded plastic and even metal can be a great way to achieve this.
