Designed for a family of seven! Soft blue hand painted cabinetry made out of solid ash is matched with a Dekton worktop to create a timeless look. The challenge in designing this kitchen was not only to make it look utterly beautiful, but also to accommodate the owners humungous family sized pots, pans and mass food supplies. In tackling this issue we installed a number of bespoke storage solutions such as a rotating pan drawer and a pair of pocket folding larder doors.

The primary material used for the kitchen is iroko, combined with plywood lined interior cabinetry. A four metre long skylight installed above the island casts natural light across the beautiful oiled iroko wood. Reeded glass, popular in the 1960´s, was also fitted into the sliding pantry doors. The central island and units were installed on matte black plinths providing a floating appearance above the floor.

Even a specific drawer for a certain sized doggy treat tin! the kitchen was built to the roof and the detailed coving copied to create this 'built in' appearance. From the architect's description: "This grand detached period property in Teddington suffered from a lack of connectivity with the rear garden as well as a cramped kitchen and poorly lit living spaces. Replacing the original modest gable end rear extension a collection of new intersecting volumes contain a generous open plan space accommodating a new kitchen, dining area and snug. The existing side return lean-to has also been replaced with a large utility space that boasts full height integrated storage and a new WC. Taking every opportunity to harness natural light from its east facing orientation an assortment of glazing features including a clearstory window, glazed kitchen splashback, glazed corner window and two roof lights have been carefully positioned to ensure every elevation of the new extension is suitably equipped to capture daylight. Careful detailing of the recycled bricks from the old extension with new European Larch cladding provide crisply defined apertures containing new expansive full height minimally-framed sliding doors opening up the rear elevation onto a new raised patio space."

Our clients returned to us after 10 years of their completed kitchen design as they had received planning permission to build a new home & wanted us to design, supply & install the new kitchen & utility. Our designer Noel who worked with them previously was happy to embark on this exciting new project with them. They knew they definitely wanted another contemporary design for the large open kitchen, dining & living area. A seated island for 4 people was a must along with lots of storage, a separate utility room &, a designated drinks area for social occasions as well as a separate games room. Noel designed mohair door fronts with a dark signature island in Basalt grey & 20mm Quartz worktops. The circular island for seating was designed with 60mm Sparkling white Corian to connect the island to the furniture as-well as create separate cooking & social zones on the island. The plinth line runs along the tall housing to give a hidden aesthetic to the utility room sitting behind it. The built in drinks cabinet with wine fridge is accessible from both the kitchen island & dining area to maximise the social space. The games room bar is designed with a new steel door front Laika & compliments the moody aesthetic. The games room bar is fully equipped with wine coolers, sinks & taps & ice maker. The stainless steel worktops from Italy finish the aesthetic of the design.

The open plan kitchen with a central moveable island is the perfect place to socialise. With a mix of wooden and zinc worktops, the shaker kitchen in grey tones sits comfortably next to exposed brick works of the chimney breast. The original features of the restored cornicing and floorboards work well with the Smeg fridge and the vintage French dresser.

By keeping the cabinetry around the perimeter of the room in Dove Grey, gave the room a crisp, light feel to it but we wanted to add some depth and the contrast of the island is Charcoal gave us exactly that. The space flows effortlessly from kitchen to garden, perfect for BBQ's in the summer evenings. The positioning of the bar stools on the island works well not only for casual socialising but also just enjoying a coffee in this fabulous new space overlooking the garden.

The original space was a long, narrow room, with a tv and sofa on one end, and a dining table on the other. Both zones felt completely disjointed and at loggerheads with one another. Attached to the space, through glazed double doors, was a small kitchen area, illuminated in borrowed light from the conservatory and an uninspiring roof light in a connecting space. But our designers knew exactly what to do with this home that had so much untapped potential. Starting by moving the kitchen into the generously sized orangery space, with informal seating around a breakfast bar. Creating a bright, welcoming, and social environment to prepare family meals and relax together in close proximity. In the warmer months the French doors, positioned within this kitchen zone, open out to a comfortable outdoor living space where the family can enjoy a chilled glass of wine and a BBQ on a cool summers evening.
