Siobhan's Outdoor Transformations
A no-grass solution, where big trees make it hard to grow grass. This garden has close to no flowers, but tons of color, provided by uniquely colored foliage. The border is custom concrete curbing.

The existing plantings were edited to allow for year round color and interest. Woodland natives were added at the edges of the property extending the garden into the 'borrowed' forested City Park boundary beyond.

The arbor is stained a traditional color for this formal space which keeps the garden sophisticated and tailored while accentuating the other shades of green in the plants. This color looks black, but is actually considered "Charleston Green." Here's a little info I found on the color, " http://www.southernliving.com/home-garden/decorating/classic-paint-colors-00417000077685/page5.html"

After a tear-down/remodel we were left with a west facing sloped front yard without much privacy from the street, a blank palette as it were. Re purposed concrete was used to create an entrance way and a seating area. Colorful drought tolerant trees and plants were used strategically to screen out unwanted views, and to frame the beauty of the new landscape. This yard is an example of low water, low maintenance without looking like grandmas cactus garden.
