Light floods this casual yet sophisticated contemporary Hamptons haven, with walls of windows allowing backyard views to dominate. White quartz countertops and pale flooring reflect light, even on overcast days. Bilotta Designer Doranne Phillips Telberg designed the flat panel doors with a horizontal grain pattern that leads the eye around the room, while the soft driftwood-toned finish complements the wooded site. Floating shelves on either side of the hood make everything visible and accessible, and provide a clear sightline to the open plan dining and living areas. The efficient layout positions the main sink in the 10’ waterfall island facing the scenery, opposite the 48” professional range. Two paneled dishwashers make quick work of cleanup. Anchoring the work triangle are integrated fridge and freezer columns, paneled to be indistinguishable from the pantry on the left. A microwave drawer sits adjacent to the refrigeration. A covered deck steps away means you’ll never be stuck indoors when it rains, and the fire pit assures outdoor living in all but the harshest weather. A wet bar with a beverage refrigerator is strategically located next to the sliding glass door, facilitating service. Another convenience is the folding window that opens out to the deck for easy delivery of food and drinks to guests. Le projet Cardinal a été menée pour une famille expatriée qui faisait son retour en France. Nos clients avaient déjà trouvé leur architecte. Les plans de conception étaient donc prêts. Séduits par notre process rodé : ils se sont tournés vers notre agence pour la phase de travaux. Le 14 mai, ils ont pris contact avec nos équipes. Une semaine après, nous visitions la maison afin de faire un repérage terrain. Le 29 mai, nous présentions dans nos bureaux un devis détaillé et en phase avec leur brief/budget. Suite à la validation de ce dernier, notre conducteur de travaux et son équipe ont lancé le chantier qui a duré 3 mois. Au RDC, nous avons déplacé la cuisine vers la fenêtre pour que nos clients aient plus de luminosité. Ceci a impliqué de revoir les arrivées d’eau, électricité etc. A l’étage, nous avons créé un espace fermé qui sert de salle de jeux pour les enfants. Nos équipes ont alors changé la balustrade, créé un plancher pour gagner en espace et un mur blanc avec une petite verrière pour laisser passer la lumière. Les salles de bain et tous les sols ont également été entièrement refaits.

The total renovation of this fabulous large country home, working alongside Llama Architects, meant the whole house was taken back to the external walls and roof rafters and all suspended floors dug up. All new Interior layout and two large extensions. 2 months of gutting the property before any building works commenced. This part of the house was in fact an old ballroom and one of the new extensions formed a beautiful new entrance hallway with stunning helical staircase. Our own design handmade and hand painted kitchen with Miele appliances. Painted in a gorgeous soft grey and with a fabulous 3.5 x 1 metre solid wood dovetailed breakfast bar and surround with led lighting. Stunning stone effect large format porcelain tiles which were for the majority of the ground floor, all with under floor heating. Skyframe openings on the ground and first floor giving uninterrupted views of the glorious open countryside. By the rear entrance door, a stylish Boot Room with all built in cupboards and Miele Wine Fridge. Lutron lighting throughout the whole of the property and Crestron Home Automation. A glass firebox fire was built into this room. for clients ease, giving a secondary heat source, but more for visual effect. 4KTV with plastered in the wall speakers, the wall to the left and right of the TV is only temporary as this will soon be glass entrances and pocket doors with views to the large swimming pool extension with sliding Skyframe opening system. Phase 1 of this 4 phase project with more images to come. The next phase is for the large Swimming Pool Extension, new Garage and Stable Building and sweeping driveway. The comfortable elegance of this French-Country inspired home belies the challenges faced during its conception. The beautiful, wooded site was steeply sloped requiring study of the location, grading, approach, yard and views from and to the rolling Pennsylvania countryside. The client desired an old world look and feel, requiring a sensitive approach to the extensive program. Large, modern spaces could not add bulk to the interior or exterior. Furthermore, it was critical to balance voluminous spaces designed for entertainment with more intimate settings for daily living while maintaining harmonic flow throughout. The result home is wide, approached by a winding drive terminating at a prominent facade embracing the motor court. Stone walls feather grade to the front façade, beginning the masonry theme dressing the structure. A second theme of true Pennsylvania timber-framing is also introduced on the exterior and is subsequently revealed in the formal Great and Dining rooms. Timber-framing adds drama, scales down volume, and adds the warmth of natural hand-wrought materials. The Great Room is literal and figurative center of this master down home, separating casual living areas from the elaborate master suite. The lower level accommodates casual entertaining and an office suite with compelling views. The rear yard, cut from the hillside, is a composition of natural and architectural elements with timber framed porches and terraces accessed from nearly every interior space flowing to a hillside of boulders and waterfalls. The result is a naturally set, livable, truly harmonious, new home radiating old world elegance. This home is powered by a geothermal heating and cooling system and state of the art electronic controls and monitoring systems.

You can add a breakfast bar or counter to your existing kitchen units, or stick with a good old-fashioned dining table if you don’t need the extra work surfaces. That said, if you do have the room, take a look at some kitchen island ideas to see if the designs inspire you for your kitchen. There are a huge variety of island designs to cater to different needs – you can have sinks, ovens, hobs, wine storage and all sorts of drawers and organisers built-in, you can have separate bars and counters that extend from your island, or you could go for a kitchen island on wheels to make your kitchen layout more versatile.

How do I choose my kitchen units and cabinets?

When picking out kitchen units and cupboard styles for a fitted kitchen, you’ll first want to consider the more practical questions – how many units do you need? How many cupboards and drawers do you need? Do you need extra kitchen storage built into your units? It’s always best to overestimate how much kitchen storage you’ll need as we all tend to have a habit of filling up whatever current space we have to the maximum. Next you can consider kitchen cabinet style and colour. Shaker style cabinets and raised and recessed panel cabinets offer a more traditional kitchen cabinet look, while flat panel cabinet doors tend to lend more to the modern and contemporary style. However, going for raised or recessed panel work in a striking colour such as dark blue, green or black can still work with contemporary kitchen ideas. White kitchens can give a sleek and clean feel, but remember you may have to do a bit more cleaning of those cupboard doors if you want everything to stay shiny and fresh. Of course, grey kitchens are the neutral colour choice du jour and can be paired with pale and rich shades alike if you want your fitted kitchen cupboards to contrast with your worktop, splashback, floor, or all of the above. You can also look at corner drawers and cupboards that open up to reveal lots of extra storage. Wall or ceiling racks could be a useful solution for hanging pans and pots if you’ve run out of cupboards in which to store them. Kitchen ideas and accessories such as baskets, trolleys and storage jars are both aesthetically pleasing and practical as they give you extra storage space. Kitchen appliances like a fridge or dishwasher can be tucked away in built-in units in fitted kitchens so they blend into your layout and don’t make the space look crowded.
