Shanti means ‘Peace' in Sanskrit and this garden, with its series of lush, elegant and surprising garden ‘rooms' lives up to its name. While each room has its own unique feel from a formal walking garden to an exuberant butterfly garden, they all offer the visitor tranquility. All are punctuated by superb stonework and elegant and unique plantings. You will find very little lawn here and instead find flowering shrubs, trees, perennials, grasses, and even unusual and striking annuals planted to delight human and butterfly visitors. This exquisite garden is the result of a close working and personal relationship between the owners and the garden's designer: together they have created a year-round living work of art. This garden area was completely reworked. It was totally overgrown with a dirt path. We created a pathway out of flagstone and inserted small walking grass in between.
The Torri gate was built by a local man for the garden. When you walk under the gate it is thought you leave the present world and enter the spiritual world. Which was significant because this is where the sacred garden is. The two gold glass homage statues stand over her two beloved animals, Pinda her dog and Lilly her cat who died at 13 while we were working on the garden.

Bespoke bin store. Created to house two mismatched wheelies, painted in Farrow & Ball 'Railings' and dressed with brushed steel furniture to match the house. Topped with a lovely sedum roof, totally self maintaining.

This garden space emphasizes plant textures, colorful foliage and quirky decorative elements. The heart of the garden is the elevated deck that perches over a rain garden, where stormwater from the roof is allowed to collect during the rainy months. Curvilinear paver pathways were installed to gently contrast against the soft plant textures. A sturdy structure was built to protect firewood and showcase quirky travel souvenirs.

The circular patio is composed of decomposed granite with a broken concrete border, which mimics the feel of natural stone. It mimics the space a home might fill within the garden.

This moss rock retaining wall became a mantle for garden art, a birdbath and many sweet perennials.
