Our Tampa studio gave a beautiful facelift to our client's kitchen and bathroom to create an elegant and sophisticated ambiance in both spaces. In the kitchen, we removed a dividing wall creating more room to carve in a wet bar and plenty of storage solutions. We used beautiful white paint that instantly brightened up the space and a mixed, on-trend palette of pacific blue with warm gray for a pop of color. A large walnut wood island makes food prep a breeze, and a matching range hood against a stunning backsplash adds an attractive focal point. The bathroom was updated to look elegant and relaxed by using a lovely floral-patterned wallpaper and a wooden vanity with muted bronze accents. The shower cubicle was lined with floor-to-ceiling tiles making it look and feel more spacious. ---Project designed by interior design studio Home Frosting. When our West Peckham based client initially contacted us with his impressive aspirations, we could see that this was going to be a well-deserved indulgence for his retirement and we certainly approved of the choice! Retirement should definitely be the time when you relax, with no daily grind to worry about… It’s time to enjoy yourself. Our retiree had a dream of combining Ye Olde Worlde Snooker Hall, a place where you could go of an evening with friends for a drink and a game, with the modern convenience, locality, and luxury of his own garden room. Perhaps the most important aspect was the dimensions. The 9 x 5.5m building not only needed to house a full size (which means 12 by 6 foot!) snooker table, but also a well-stocked and comfortable bar area in order to create the entire Snooker Hall experience! To accommodate the sheer weight of the beautifully crafted and authentic table meant that the floor needed to be largely reinforced. Our client also decided to extend the entertainment area beyond just the inside bar, deciding to surround the room with a generous 2m wrap around decking area in top-caliber composite. A triangular glazed feature creates extra interest as a homage to the invaluable snooker triangle and embellishes the two sets of high-quality powder-coated aluminium bifold doors. These are combined elegantly to create a fully opening glazed corner, which takes lavish advantage of the woodland setting. The walls needed to be reinforced in order to mount the bar television and other important bar paraphernalia. The ceiling required reinforcement too, underneath its sloping roof and feature vaulted ceiling effect, in order to mount two of the large obligatory overhead roof lights.

This dining room wet bar is flanked by stainless steal wine columns. Crisp white lift up cabinets proved ample storage for glass ware either side of the flyover top treatment with LED lighting to add drama to decorative items. The graphic dimensional back splash tile adds texture and drama to the wall mounted faucet and under mount sink. Charcoal honed granite counters adds drama to the space while the rough hewn European oak cabinetry provides texture and warmth to the design scheme.

A home bar is one of the ultimate indulgences for a homeowner. By no means essential but all the more satisfying for that very reason. Whether your home bar ideas would be having the boys round to watch the big match in a pub-style atmosphere on a Saturday afternoon, ‘going uptown’ to sip an espresso martini in your home cocktail bar in the loft, or hoping to recreate the vibe of an intimate speakeasy in your basement, a contemporary style home bar is a treat that’s guaranteed to lift your spirits. A place where you are always guaranteed a seat.

How big should my contemporary home bar be?

The ideal style of your contemporary home bar will depend on your lifestyle and entertaining habits as well as the amount of available space. If big groups come round regularly then you should consider dedicating a part of your living room or basement to a larger seating area – complete with a bar table, bar stools and wet bar section – to keep everyone suitably comfortable and merry. If TV is essential, check if there is a wall nearby that’s a big enough to mount it on without restricting anyone’s view.
