MainStreet Design BuildThe unique design challenge in this early 20th century Georgian Colonial was the complete disconnect of the kitchen to the rest of the home. In order to enter the kitchen, you were required to walk through a formal space. The homeowners wanted to connect the kitchen and garage through an informal area, which resulted in building an addition off the rear of the garage. This new space integrated a laundry room, mudroom and informal entry into the re-designed kitchen. Additionally, 25” was taken out of the oversized formal dining room and added to the kitchen. This gave the extra room necessary to make significant changes to the layout and traffic pattern in the kitchen.
By creating a large furniture style island to comfortably seat 3, possibilities were opened elsewhere on exterior walls. A spacious hearth was created to incorporate a 48” commercial range in the existing nook area. The space gained from the dining room allowed for a fully integrated refrigerator and microwave drawer. This created an “L” for prep and clean up with room for a small wine bar and pantry storage.
Many specialty items were used to create a warm beauty in this new room. Custom cabinetry with inset doors and a hand painted, glazed finish paired well with the gorgeous 3 ½” thick cherry island top. The granite was special ordered from Italy to coordinate with the hand made tile backsplash and limestone surrounding the stone hearth.

Colonial Craft Kitchens, IncFeatured on HGTV's show, "America's Top 10 Amazing Kitchens". This kitchen was designed for efficient cooking, and it looks fabulously French doing it. Designed to evoke the French Colonial period, its 10-foot ceilings, emblematic arches and intricate woodwork would have made Louis XIV proud. A decorative armoire, topped with iron pieces imported from Italy, hides the refrigerator, and a two-tiered Madura Gold granite island features a wet bar and two integrated white ovens. LudilyCet ancien cabinet d’avocat dans le quartier du carré d’or, laissé à l’abandon, avait besoin d’attention. Notre intervention a consisté en une réorganisation complète afin de créer un appartement familial avec un décor épuré et contemplatif qui fasse appel à tous nos sens. Nous avons souhaité mettre en valeur les éléments de l’architecture classique de l’immeuble, en y ajoutant une atmosphère minimaliste et apaisante. En très mauvais état, une rénovation lourde et structurelle a été nécessaire, comprenant la totalité du plancher, des reprises en sous-œuvre, la création de points d’eau et d’évacuations.
Les espaces de vie, relèvent d’un savant jeu d’organisation permettant d’obtenir des perspectives multiples. Le grand hall d’entrée a été réduit, au profit d’un toilette singulier, hors du temps, tapissé de fleurs et d’un nez de cloison faisant office de frontière avec la grande pièce de vie. Le grand placard d’entrée comprenant la buanderie a été réalisé en bois de noyer par nos artisans menuisiers. Celle-ci a été délimitée au sol par du terrazzo blanc Carrara et de fines baguettes en laiton.
La grande pièce de vie est désormais le cœur de l’appartement. Pour y arriver, nous avons dû réunir quatre pièces et un couloir pour créer un triple séjour, comprenant cuisine, salle à manger et salon. La cuisine a été organisée autour d’un grand îlot mêlant du quartzite Taj Mahal et du bois de noyer. Dans la majestueuse salle à manger, la cheminée en marbre a été effacée au profit d’un mur en arrondi et d’une fenêtre qui illumine l’espace. Côté salon a été créé une alcôve derrière le canapé pour y intégrer une bibliothèque. L’ensemble est posé sur un parquet en chêne pointe de Hongris 38° spécialement fabriqué pour cet appartement. Nos artisans staffeurs ont réalisés avec détails l’ensemble des corniches et cimaises de l’appartement, remettant en valeur l’aspect bourgeois.
Un peu à l’écart, la chambre des enfants intègre un lit superposé dans l’alcôve tapissée d’une nature joueuse où les écureuils se donnent à cœur joie dans une partie de cache-cache sauvage. Pour pénétrer dans la suite parentale, il faut tout d’abord longer la douche qui se veut audacieuse avec un carrelage zellige vert bouteille et un receveur noir. De plus, le dressing en chêne cloisonne la chambre de la douche. De son côté, le bureau a pris la place de l’ancien archivage, et le vert Thé de Chine recouvrant murs et plafond, contraste avec la tapisserie feuillage pour se plonger dans cette parenthèse de douceur.

C’est une ambiance haussmannienne très douce et familiale, qui a été ici créée, avec un intérieur reposant dans lequel on se sent presque comme à la campagne.

Bsquared ConstructionEvery aspect of this kitchen renovation was thoughtfully considered to create a space for family and friends enjoy. The renovation included a 4' addition to allow space for an island which the original kitchen did not have. Marvin Ultimate casement windows and fully tiled walls give the room a finished look. Further amenities include 72" Lacanche range and custom hood by Mitchel and Mitchel, polished brass pot filler, two large sinks, and two dishwashers. Fully integrated Appliances by Thermador. Crystal Cabinets provided the beaded inset in a custom white finish. White marble island top and countertops. Newly installed white oak hardwood floors were stained to match the home's existing floors.

The Wellborn Cabinets were selected from the Premier Line in the Hawthorn Cabinet Series in Maple. The Glaicier finish softs the look of a stark wihite and shows off the detailing of the rope pattern in the inset of the cabinet panels.
A Hand Selected Calcatta Vigal Honed Counter-top was selected to add movement to the room and balance the bronze hardware, plumbing, and light fixtures.
The Oil Rubbed Bronze Faucet, Sidespray and Wall Mounted Pot Filler all come from the Moen Showhouse Waterhill Collection. The lighting fixtures were a find of the homeowners.
All the appliances are Dacor except for the Asko Dishwasher and Best Hood, which was inserted in the beautiful Wellborn Hood complimenting the Cabinets.
A Dickinson 33” X 22” Farmhouse Sink in white added to the Island completes the working triangle of the Kitchen, yet open conversation to family and guest while doing the many tasks that involves the sink.
Each end the Island has a surprising detail- one has doors for additional storage and the other has book shelves for cookbooks or specialty display items.
The backsplash 3” X 6” tile is installed in a running bond pattern with a rope boarder framed above the cooktop bringing the continued detail that runs throughout the cabinet fronts.
Lacing in and matching the existing hardwood flooring that continues throughout the house warms the room and invites all to join the fun in the Kitchen.
