Wild Grapes Wine Cellars
If you're a wine enthusiast, a basement conversion provides a great opportunity to create proper storage for your wine collection (though ultimately any space within the home can be converted into ideal wine storage).

Keeping the right balance between temperature and humidity is key when it comes to storing wine. Proper insulation is usually required for wine cellar spaces, in order to control the temperature of the room and to prevent the build up of condensation. This is particularly important where a wine cellar cooling system is to be installed. These specialised air-conditioning systems keep a consistent and proper balance between temperature and humidity.

From there, its down to choosing the look for your cellar, whether contemporary or traditional. Steel racking offers great flexibility in configurations and durable finishes, which will not rust and are zero-VOC (non-toxic) and so will not taint your wines. Combining natural, oiled wooden countertops and display/ tasting areas, with steel wine racking makes a stunning contemporary statement.

Lighting is the final major consideration, which can make a big impact on the overall look of your wine cellar. It is also important to ensure that whatever lighting is installed does not create a lot of heat in the room. LED lighting, whether down lighters or strip lights are perfect for wine cellar environments as they are cost effective, low heat generators, dimmable and provide a quality of light that is very similar to halogen lighting.
