Absolutely brilliant! Best thing I've seen on Houzz in ages. A designer/architect who appreciates the fantastic contrast that wood (oak) can have with other materials, the vaguely "mix and match" concept (ie not EVERYTHING has to be streamlined and "samey") - everything, basically. Great to have used the back of something for some open shelves (we did something similar with a TV unit my husband built - bookshelves in its back) and NO island. A fantastic space without sacrificing principles to fads like bi-fold doors, islands and any other fashionable interior cliché you'd like to mention. Hooray to not being a slave to fashion!

A really thoughtful design, and well executed. My only quibble is with the use of the near-ubiquitous white-metro-tiles-with-grey-grouting .... I have yet to see an example of their use in which I'd reckon they were a perfect choice ! I wouldn't want my kitchen or bathroom) to look like a Victorian Public Lavatory !! Other than that, it must be a real joy to work in that kitchen.
