The recent boom in home building and renovation has been a welcome development for design and renovation businesses, but supply chain disruptions due to the pandemic and inflation have led to higher product and material costs.
The price of building materials increased by 7.8% in March 2021 compared to 2020, according to the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS), while timber prices in particular rose by 80% in the first six months of 2021, according to the Construction Products Association.
