This beautiful family home set at the foot of the Sugar Loaf mountains in Wicklow was purchased by a young family from London. They wanted to maintain the character and features of a country home but marry it with modern living.

We embarked on a complete modernisation programme to open up existing spaces, add new ones and let the light stream in. Dark wood was replaced with light. We brought together the little-used conservatory and living room by knocking through and adding a double sided stove to ensure year-round use. The old office next to the kitchen became a playroom with a Crittall window to allow light and visual access from the hallway.

Upstairs, a loft conversion and en suite completed the transformation and created that invaluable extra room for when the family sleepover. Throughout the house, use of muted, contemporary shades and carefully selected artwork and furnishings ensured a little piece of London was always with them.
