Bathroom

Please help me with some ideas for a new bathroom. It's 20 yrs since it was done. Would prefer not to change around the plumbing but it won't be a show stopper. Bathroom is roughly 11x 9w. Really hate it so all ideas greatly welcome. Would love a kind of wet room shower. Many thanks

You have a lot of space here. Instead of the pedestal sink, look for a nice vanity. You can change the mirror to something larger and more modern. As for the lights, you could have sconces or two pendants on each side of the mirror.
I am assuming that the tile stays. Otherwise, you can pick any tile.

No tile is going as well. Want a fresh new look.

It small But your cabin sink unit is a good idea as you have storage space and it looks neat. I have changed my bath many times to shower unit and it has leaked every time, some times it has been the plumbers fault or bad design then it was a visitor who let the water spill while showering the last time it flooded the insurers wanted the bathroom TANKED! meaning waterproof walls and floors. This is done by an experienced plumber contractor of repute! as the insurers said too many claims from too many people with bad waterproofing. the insurer said they would not insure again or any other clients who had not got their bathroom water proofed by expert plumber fitters. SO I have gone back to the Bath with a shower enclosed and found it tops for waterproof.

If it was me, I would centre it and only silicone the back. I understand your concerns about water going down the side. Realistically, though, as you will only be washing your hands and maybe teeth in it, there is unlikely to be much water gushing about. To detract from the fact there is not as much space on either side of sink, I would have carpenter either wall mount or put legs on the cabinet so there is space underneath and the unit doesn't look too chunky!

Hey rinked, Thanks for the idea. I had considered that before, but wan't sure about taking quite that much out of the room. It would be an extra 2-300mm but as per your sketch I hadn't thought about leaving the nook behind the door which lessens the incursion (and in the bed room that space could be used for storage too). We are moving the soil pipe to the side of the house to allow for the bifold downstairs, so the toilet on the outer wall as per your sketch would really be better. Of course we could use a pump or so, but that's not ideal. Bath drainage could also run out that side too. We are completely renovating the room, everything is coming out and it will be tanked and retiled etc, so seams aren't an issue. My main consideration for having the toilet and vanity on the other wall is to perhaps conceal the toilet with a false wall, and also so that the light from the window (extremely bright as south facing) isn't to the side when looking in the mirror. Ok the, you can go ahead and look at some beautiful tile. Look at some photos and see what style you are going for. You have lots of room here.

Personally I am not a fan of seeing toilet when entering a room. I would place the toilet where the sink is now, possibly built a half- wall for privacy, and get a large vanity with plenty of storage on the opposite wall.

I agree with jolana. Even if you don't move the toilet, it appears you have enough room to build a half wall to close the toilet space off. Then I usually put a nice decorative countertop on the wall, something to match whatever vanity top you use.
