Quick cheap garden border

Hi all,
My gardens the last part of my house renovation.... only my house Is now going for sale fairly quick but it really let's the house down, I need to make some form of border, previous own put stones in which grew into the grass and it's just a mess so..... any ideas on what I could do as a quick cheap eye pleaser

Mathew, at risk of stating the obvious, here’s what I would do. Remove absolutely EVERYTHING that is lying around your garden except the table and chairs. Clean them then power wash the decking. Arrange the chairs around the table, place a lovely lantern on the table or a large one on the floor. If your budget stretches I would add a large round outdoor rug and some bright cushions on the chairs. This way, your eye will be drawn to the inviting seating area instead of the state of the grass. You would obviously cut the grass and you could use some spray fertiliser on it which would give it a boost. I would not remove the stepping stones or create borders, leave the new owners to do what they wish.

Forgot to say, you should definitely have a joiner add new planks across the whole front of the decking, please don’t just ‘patch it up’.

Hi lots of different options and ideas going on. I had a similar wall and understand how mean it can be to little ones. I bought and put up the expanding wood trellis. This instantly covered the area at a very reasonable price. I then planted quick growing climbing plants. I'm not a great gardener so I cant remember what i had but ask at the garden centre they will advise you. But at least you have a barrier in place to minimize accidents.

Hi Shelwal, Garden Rooms can be a good idea. You would get your extra room and depending on what you decide on ( size/style/final use etc), most can be built under permitted development rules, so no planning permission would be required. We build ours with Structurally Insulated Panels (SIP) panels, so they are quick to erect, cheap to heat and last forever. Gosh, I've returned after a week travelling for work to loads more suggestions - thanks all! To respond specifically: - the house faces south so gets the lovely morning (and in the uk, sometimes the only) sun. - the husband has avoided putting plants in the planters due to maintenance and they're generally twee so comments here have confirmed to me that they will be coming out - love the idea of wooden boxes with the spiky plants and grasses - also like the concept of taking out the grass/bed/tree in front completely out and replacing with slabs - yes to lightening the windows - to the Barn company, I honestly don't mind the advice and I'd never seen sloping garage roofs. - nicking ideas from landscaping of new builds....great idea! - finally, Helen Scholes, I'm embarrassed about the spelling of kerb. Had no idea! Thanks again all.
