Tough question! I'd think about, first, consulting with a lighting design professional before going ahead. There might be a way to run an insulated sleeve from the source point, through the insulation and the sheetrock. Another possibility might be to "gang" or bundle the lights. This would not eliminate the need to open the insulation up but it would cut down on the number of openings you'd need. Finally, if there's no other alternatives for you, use LED surface mounted fixtures. There are a huge range of designs which could work for you.

Hi & Tnx. The house is a wee 2 up 2 down Victorian row home, but the floor is not. I don't know for sure as the whole lot has been concreted (unevenly), bar the tiled hallway. It is not concreted well & probably replaced a suspended wooden floor long ago. I would rather avoid having to dig out the concrete if possible? S

Hi, We’re changing windows and fascias/soffets in an upcoming renovation. We’re also taking out the cement shingles on the second floor and insulating behind and replacing with horizontal cedar wood. Really liking grey windows but cannot decide what grey, anthracite or a lighter grey? Do I get matching fascias etc? Should I paint the cedar wood a colour or just stain it? Will I get longer out of it if we paint? Any advise welcome 🙏

We discovered woodworm infestation in the entire ground floor, a little in the stairs, and a little in the attic. No evidence in the 1st floor. We got the ground floor filled in with insulation and concrete. We got the attic, stairs and landing sprayed by professionals. Afterwards, the walls around the stairs and landing are covered in drip marks. The ceilings above the stairs and landing is stained and blotchy. It doesn’t seem to be coming from the attic treatment as the bedroom ceilings are ok. It seems to be what was done in the stairs and landing. Has anyone had woodworm treatment done and experienced this?
