We have just build a flat roofed extension and planned 20 led lights they're all wired but its above the insulation that went in today. How can we light the new room without making 20 heat leaking holes in our newly insulated roof.
Tough question! I'd think about, first, consulting with a lighting design professional before going ahead. There might be a way to run an insulated sleeve from the source point, through the insulation and the sheetrock. Another possibility might be to "gang" or bundle the lights. This would not eliminate the need to open the insulation up but it would cut down on the number of openings you'd need. Finally, if there's no other alternatives for you, use LED surface mounted fixtures. There are a huge range of designs which could work for you.
why the heck would you ever need 20 cans in one room.? the room calls for maybe 6 from what i can see. what cans where you planning on using, can i see a floor plan of the space? hope you the right cans to go around insulation. the wholes are going to be sealed by the can ,the can will be sealed by the trim. no real loss there.
