Bathroom renovation ideas

Hi all. I need to update my out of date bathroom with minimum spend. Please share ideas on how to improve the look of this

Keep the layout as is. You need a new modern toilet (more water efficient) a new basin/vanity if you can find the right size, something quite narrow and at least a new bath panel. I would change all the taps too at the same time. I'm not sure what the flooring is, or is it a mat? Either way I would replace it. That extractor vent is filthy and needs replacing urgently. Not the greatest space for a basin but would probably cost a lot to move. At least you can use the window ledge for a mirror. You could also have a round mirror on a pull out bracket to the right of the window.

You have a lot of space here. Instead of the pedestal sink, look for a nice vanity. You can change the mirror to something larger and more modern. As for the lights, you could have sconces or two pendants on each side of the mirror. I am assuming that the tile stays. Otherwise, you can pick any tile.

Hello Edel, Well you are in the fortunate place having a loo and shower downstairs.. I am sure this might become useful when the boys are older.. So if you wanted more wardrobe space.. This doesn't have to involve wall to wall cupboards.. You could have free standing wardrobes.. A bigger bathroom would mean you could have double wall hung sinks and large walk in shower and a separate bath.. Wall hung loo as well.. Or possibly you could create a wet room style shower and loo and separate walk in closet.. accessed from your bedroom. Keep a bathroom next door.. Hard to tell if any of these ideas could work without a plan.. : ))

Hello, I am moving to a new house near Guildford and will be re painting the whole house in neutral colours with off white woodwork and having carpet upstairs, but really don't want to have the stress and mess of removing the bathroom wall and floor tiles. I am trying to think of how I can keep the cottage/country/traditional feel with a modern twist, without removing the tiles. I will paint the door an off white. I do like wooden wall panels half way but wondering whether the blue tiles are worth keeping or what else I could do with the white tiles on the window wall and floor tiles which I dont like at all. I will change the sink to a vanity sink and toilet. Any help and ideas on what can be done without removing the tiles or what colours etc would look good would be appreciated! Photo attached. My first thought was to change the bath panel, or if it’s in good condition, paint it white with a good eggshell or satinwood paint. A new more modern shaped sink with a vanity, as Isla suggests would be good. You can get small sink and vanity combos for tight spaces. I’ve got one in my tiny bathroom. You could replace the floor with vinyl sheeting and it’s not too pricey. I recently paid £200 for mine, fitted (see below). I’ve used stick on tiles on a floor before and they do tend to curl up after a bit but okay for a temporary fix.

Hi Aqsa, as mentioned on being on a budget a few friendly suggestions could be painting the wooden bathtub to make it more modern. Either hiding the air vent or changing it out to match the room's aesthetic. In terms of removing the basin or toilet, it would be good to have a modern look but if you're on a budget we think it looks fine as is! Peel & stick tiles will be your best friend for the time being - they're pretty cheap and look just as good as tiling if done properly. I hope this helps, Sarah! 😊
