Not being rude but it’s a normal shaped window? I’d go for blinds rather than curtains. A Roman blind would add some texture. Are you wishing to block the view of the car or does your dog like looking out?
It’s a bit like a bay but with a normal window in it. I agree a Roman blind would look very smart and not take up too much space. Something patterned in a shade complementary to the room.
i think a smaller sofa would work as it’s also crossing arms with the other sofa. Something with slim arms so as ro maximise seating. Or a loveseat. Or maybe a built in bench although it depends on your seating requirements
i agree with Sonia, a patterned roman would look nice
Yes couches are tempory. This Is a new build so moved in recently. Going to get a small two seater or cuddle couch. Would you think a very daintyfloral wallpaper could be nice around the window the with a plain roman.
you can obviously wallpaper where you prefer but it will likely become the feature/focal point and given you said you find the bay awkward perhaps choose another wall? Not saying it’s wrong but it may make it feel as if it’s not part of the room. If you do choose to paper I might do the reveals as well as all the pics below have done
More examples of nooks being wallpapered, but I struggled to find some. In the 2nd pic it looks like the wallpaper covers all the wall, that’s something you could consider?
Love the last picture with the Dog looking out of the window :)
A few observations:
- Some symmetry is missing from this space to take the focus away from the shape of the walls surrounding the window, this can be achieved using wall art, wallpaper either side, wall panelling, wall lighting or sconces, the overall aim is to inject some texture or colour to enhance and disguise the area walls.
- White shutter blinds would allow you to manipulate the amount of light you have coming in and provide privacy
- The entire area could be changed also with the introduction of window seating (cannot see the other side of the room and if it would accommodate the sofa currently there, or by changing the shape of the sofa - drawing in more curves
Thank you all so much for all your advice. I will definitely be changing blind to a roman and the couches are being ordered this week. This is the style of wallpaper I had in mind. I think it could look absolutely fabulous and give that space some real identity but a little fearful it might look slightly dated 🤷♀️ I also was considering the window seat...again would look fab but not sure how comfortable it would be given the window is there. I think I will play it safe and get a two seater of this couch
