help with furniture colour

Hi all. I would really appreciate some advice/ suggestions on what colour I should paint my large pine wardrobes and my chest of drawers in my bedroom? I started decorating today so the room is in the process of being painted ‘Livid’ from little greene paint. I have a light stone/creamy carpet on order. I haven’t sorted curtains yet.
I’ve already started to prime the wardrobes (Zinsser BIN) but don’t know what colour?
With regards to my chest of drawers I like the drawer colour so thinking if I could leave them and paint the frame and top? Will that work?
Would I do my wardrobes and chest same colour or different?

White goes really well with green. If you change your mind about the wall colour later white would go with any other colour you choose.

Yellows/creams/ whites/ and grays are very fresh right now. The gray can range from light silver to charcoal, but it won't take away from bright and airy feel, because it really makes the yellows and creams stand out.

If you have space, another couch of a complimentary colour to your couch with its back facing the dining room (or an occasional chair there on an angle) would be good. A large rug to tie together the seating and a coloured wall where the existing couch is (be it paint or wall paper or a large artwork) would help make it cosy.

What colour bedding and window treatments are you planning? We have a dark coloured bedroom and have painted the fitted wardrobes white opposite our white bedding. Our bedside cabinets and dressing table are a dark wood. The white lifts the space and gives it a modern look

How about Slaked Lime by Little Green? I’ve used it on a couple of bookcases. It’s an off white although there are 3 versions. Or possibly paint them the same colour as the walls.

Firstly I'd make a frame to like the wardrobe at least 40cm off the floor, adding shoe storage below. Then I'd consider painting them the same as the wall, make them blend in with the background.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I’m leaning towards going to go light like Portland stone, French grey, slaked lime or off white as suggested. I like the idea of painting them dark for them to disappear into the walls but I think I am too scared it’ll be too much dark. I think it’s harder trying to decide also how that will affect my chest of drawers. I’m going to have to see colour swatches of the light colours to see how they sit against the livid.
Little Greene suggest fescue as a complimentary colour but it looks awful in reality. It completely clashes in my room’s lighting. It turns a sand colour strangely.

My bedding will be plain white. I have a linen colour headboard and will likely get linen coloured curtains.

I'm glad you checked the fescue before buying it. There are so many factors that affect the way a paint appears in your room. I like the livid. A stone colour like Slaked Lime suggested by Sonia is probably your best option. I have used it on a living room walls once and its a very neutral shade. That should tie in very well with your headboard and curtains.

That is so true Isla, before deciding on livid, I spent around £50 on F&B and little Greene testers, I’m trying to not spend as much on furniture ones too.

I know what you mean. They really are expensive when it only usually takes a small amount of paint to realise that its not the right colour. A true neutral is hard to find.

I found these two images that show how lovely green goes with white, as Isla stated. The white bedding adds to it as does the stone coloured headboard. Love the art choices too. I think adding other colours brought in with soft furnishings is good so it’s not just green and white.

Thanks Sonia, you are right in bringing in other colours so it’s not to much sameness. I like the idea of layering different neutral shades so will start there. Im a big fan of brass fittings at the moment which adds some warmth too.

Very light grey would work. Greige which is a mixture of grey and beige is also good with green.

When you look at nature, green really does go with everything. So pale pink, beige, cream, grey, taupe and stone would go well.

Hello, such a great wall colour. You have a light blue, dark blue, cream bed, and stone/creamy carpet which you ordered. To create a harmonious look in your room, you repeat those colours at least twice to create a relationship. You can paint your wardrobe the same cream as your new carpet. Your chest of drawers can be dark blue, which is the colour of your trim. You can add white colour to your curtains and bedding. Bedding can have a pattern with white and light colours. Two white nightstands with blue lamps will make your room modern and inviting.
