You can also paint the skirting boards the same colour as the walls. Only have a pendant light over a dining table because if it is in your eye-line whir you walk into a room that also makes you notice lower ceilings. Everywhere else choose spotlights, floor lights and table lights.
Good advice. Put simple curtains as high as you can and drape to the floor. No central pendant all lighting flush. Hang paintings etc a little higher. Furniture should be lower and in proportion to the room.
I agree about pendant lights being a no no but expensive to change all to spotlights if not already done. You could paint the walls and ceilings the same colour to blur the line of where the ceiling starts. Hang your curtains (if you have them) from the ceiling for maximum height.You can buy the tracks really easily now.
