I have a typical 1950's semi with a blockwork half wall on the stairs. I'd like to replace this with spindles and a bannister. Is it a job for an experienced diyer? Has anyone done this themselves or should we be looking at a tradesperson? Any tips or rough idea of prices would be appreciated.
We had this changed once. I think you could DIY it quite sucessfully if you had a lot of time and the right tools. No idea how much an experienced chippie would charge you for this now. It depends on where you are. Why not get a couple of quotes and then you can decide either way.
