Using lime plaster

Hi Guys,
Hope someone can advise me on the following.
We have a 1930s solid brick semi detached house. Currently it has lime plaster internally. We are hoping to renovate in the new year.
We want to skim over the plaster. From what I understand it needs to be lime plaster (breathable) for the internal surface of the solid walls and the other partition walls can be any plaster. Is this correct?
We don't have any damp issues in the house.
Thanks!
