How easy is it to remove this fireplace?

I want to remove this fireplace/mantel but am not sure how easy to do it would be.

Artificial fire is electric.

I think the fireplace is marble and some sort of medium hard wood.

The house was built in 1968 and definitely done up in 2002 so my guess is that the fireplace was installed maybe early noughties…
But not sure!

Any info on it appreciated!

There's probably just a couple of brackets in the plaster securing it to the wall. I replaced a surround in my previous house, and that was the case. The surround will be over the marble.

A guy removed my existing fire place and did the installation. It was fire boarded and sealed around where the stove sits. I had a paint mixed at the local dulux centre "slightly off white" diamond hard acrylic eggshell don't used oil based paint. This was painted inside the chimney before the stove was installed I used a small roller 3/4 coats. Front wall is again from the dulux centre Flat white emulsion. The whole look is very plain but if you like the look, dress the walls with tasteful art and a nice vase or two, It works for me.

There are a thousand ways to use mirrors beautifully in a living room -- just not any old mirror in any old place, that I would agree with I think you should have art over the fireplace, and I see potential for using a scattering of small mirrors to bring light into the alcove and counterbalance the somewhat awkward angle of the TV. I'm assuming there's nowhere else to put the TV? I agree that the furniture in that corner is rather too flimsy to handle either the size of the TV or the bold black boxes of the fireplace and hearth. How about a striking floor vase? That's a working fireplace isn't it? I agree that the fire surround is probably not in keeping with your tastes and would probably look perfectly at home in a rustic country cottage, but just not for you. There are several options open to you, and if your a bit handy with the DIY, none of them need to cost much, it's just a little hard work. Remove the fire surround and see what dimensions you have with the actual fireplace, it might be that you can also remove the iron plate around it, thus leaving you with a much smaller actual fire. However, be aware that it will affect, the plaster, the skirting and the hearth, as everything is currently built to home the fire surround. You could go............at that point for making good the walls and keep it simple by having a floating shelf only, or another fire surround that's simpler. Loads on Ebay! Just make sure they're suitable for a working fire!

Hi Houzz'ers, We have a long kitchen / diner room which is split by a Circle wood burning stove. We want to be able to use this area not only as a kitchen and dining area but also, from time to time as a place to relax and socialize around the fire. (it is a spectacular fire). Due to the proportions, and the central fireplace, we are finding it difficult to furnish appropriately. We are constrained by central fire, two double doors (one into a sun room), a large radiator and the dining room windows. We are interested to see if anyone has any ideas that can make the room functionally work but also look good. The dining room table (it is fully extended and so can retract) has to stay as we have just bought it, however the other furniture can change or be removed. Thanks in advance for you good ideas.. :-) The room is approximately 10 meters by 4.4 meters. ( I hope the diagrams and pictures provide enough detail)
