Open plan small Victorian terrace ideas
Hi everyone,
My partner and i have just bought this two bed house and we want to open up the dining / kitchn area by removing the utilty room. We’ll probable leave a pillar to save on costs but this will depend on the quotes we get.
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for how we might plan the kitchen dining area with a pillar included? Happy to move around the units plumbing etc.
Also keen for doors out to the garden but not a fan of bifolds as they seem to take up lots of room to open and close. Does anyone have any ideas for great alternatives?

Comments (10)You could create an ensuite by borrowing space from the second bedroom, accessing it from the master. I would create one large luxury family bathroom by joining the current bathroom and the adjoining room into one. If you don't want to lose a room, you could swap the purpose of the two rooms, creating a medium sized bathroom and a small box room/study (expensive for some benefit). Lastly, if you really want to maintain the number of rooms but gain a bigger bathroom, you could move the family bathroom to the bottom, right-hand room, if plumbing allows. Comments (10)If you are going to do this - make sure the bedrooms have plenty of wardrobe space etc - don't scrimp ! Ideally every woman wants at least double the wardrobe space she already has !! And a walk-in wardrobe / dressing room is something that would earn any developer brownie points !! So if you have the space ... Use it well !! Breakfast areas in morning sunshine work well and evening sun in the lounge is good - inside outside fireplaces can work really well and everybody needs storage for summer /winter stuff (ski /scuba /suitcases etc ) so worth adding in storage somewhere accessible (like utility room ) for that sort of gear too ! I think this house will benefit from from plenty of toy storage in the main family living space ( assuming this will be in the extension at rear ) as while little ones are so small they need to be in view - so perhaps you could design with this in mind and add a dedicated laundry room near the WC perhaps ? The current play room could maybe be used as a different function ? Do you need a guest room /study perhaps ? For when family members come to stay ? If so maybe the wc could be upgraded to a shower room ? There's lots of things you can do to make this work for you - just write a list of what could make your life easier now and for the next 5-10 years or so ... Some things will evolve or be ready to change by then - so being clever with your designing and planning now should put you in a good place further down the line too !! PRO9 months agoHI there! I suggest keeping the kitchen where it is (cabinets to one side of the wall) and the pillar will then be attached to your kitchen island as shown in the below images. The space in front of the island can be used as a dining room. You can opt for crital style doors (you can get them in aluminium as well) or even sliding door could work. Hope this helps!
