Console as dressing table

Hello, I was hoping to use this console table as a dressing table in my bedroom, as I have no other space for one. I can't fit a standard dressing table without the wardrobe door hitting it when they open, as the radiator takes up space! Any comments would be most welcome please. (Although at the moment I'm finding it near impossible to find a tall stool anyway so it might come to nothing!) Thanks so much for taking a look.

Looks a good compromise. To lower it you could cut down the legs, if they are of a material you can cut such as wood. I bought a stool at Dunelm and it was too high, I couldn’t get my legs under the table, so I sawed the legs down so it fits now. Or you could replace the legs of the stool with longer ones. There are lots of sellers online who sell replacement furniture legs.

Good idea of Sonia's to use longer legs on a stool if you can't find one high enough. How high is the console table?

Nice art but a bit too large for this spot. See how the frame is above your door frame. If it were mine, since the door appears to open into the next room, I'd consider modifying the sideboard to be used as a rad cover and lower the art so its center is 5' above the floor. It can stand on its own, and you can paint the frame the same color as the sideboard to unify them and the space. You might also add an art light that attaches to the piece for more evening interest.

Well, you can't do much about a window! Dressing table is good, as well as hooks, and/or shelves on the wll to the right of it. About all you can do for regular closet storage will be all along that (newly) straight wall to the left of the window, because everything else is constrained by the needs of the pass-through. You might be able to run a shelf along above the two doorways, for a little extra, but it could end up feeling a lot like a tunnel for the entrance to a master bedroom. I'd suggest making at least half of ht ehanging space be double-rod (half-height) for more capacity, and make sure that part of the dressing table has some drawers. That's about all there is! :)

Hi Marie. It's difficult to tell how wide the room is but a round table could work at the foot of the stairs. Dress with a large bowl and plants/flowers etc. you could also try hanging 3 chandeliers or pendants down the hall. I would also have either 2 matching consoles opposite each other by the front door or keep your existing and add some seating opposite to create symmetry. I think if you were to dress the console with bigger items it would stand out more ie ginger jars on the bottom shelf, classic urns, plants etc on the top. Once you've got the basics done and budget permits, you can add further floor standing decorative pieces, a small chair etc. I think you definitely need some tall art by the front door though or even mirrors if you're not keen to add art

It doesn't look like the entrance door will open fully. Also, the console table juts out too far and the accessories seem out of place. I'd return it. Maybeputting the mirror on the wall with a shelf under it would work. Consider changing out the wood blind for a Roman shade or top down/bottom up shade. Personally, I wouldn't worry about covering up the rad. Add a pretty rug too.

Oh I didn't even think of changing the legs, which is a great idea! The table is 80cm high and the only stool I have is 40cm high - so will look at new legs foe this - thank you x

Be careful about leaving cosmetics on the table or window; they really do not keep in heat and light. I would just put a place to sit under the window and add a tall mirror somewhere. I see the corner shaped wardrobe, it looks like it might not have a lot of storage - could you hack that into a skin/hair care area?
