Architect or kitchen designer?

At present we have a largish kitchen with a small utility room attached, separated by a solid wall which has power sockets and pipes to the (external) boiler running along it. We want to refurbish the whole space, possibly knocking that wall down and integrating the two rooms. We would also like to have a large skylight in the kitchen roof, and a door from the kitchen to the garden.

My question is - do I need an architect to advise and draw up plans, or is this something a kitchen designer could do? I know this might seem and obvious question but never having been in this situation before I'm not sure who to approach.

we are at the very beginning of a project on our house ( kitchen extension with extra bedroom). after about 8 weeks dealing with our architect we are still waiting for the wow factor. we have discussed the floor plans and have now seen a 3d render but there has been absolutely no 'design' element discussed or suggested by our architect. we are getting very frustrated and are beginning to lose faith as we discussed at the very beginning our desire to do something brave and design-led. are we expecting too much at this stage? would love some advice either from other architects or anyone who has experience! just getting a bit frustrated. thanks!!

Hello everyone! I would love some advice on how to design the kitchen in our new build. As you can see from the design there is a long 4 m window at the front of the house. This will be quite low and will be 50 cm high, so basically it will act a bit as a splash back. So my question is: can I fit in 4 tall cabinets in the kitchen (1 for oven- 60 cm, 2 as pantry - 60 cm each and 1 for the fridge-80 cm)? I am starting to think I need to shorten that window as I would like the keep the feel of the kitchen bright and airy with an island with seating without over crowding the space and not blocking the passage into the living room on the left? Thoughts anyone? Ps: please disregard the design suggestion on the plan, it was put down in the first draft by the architect.

Mid renovation and we noticed the architect did not measure the house correctly which leaves the design compromised, what to do next? Measurements have been taken incorrectly when the survey was done (by the architects firm), my builder now discovered the stairs will not fit as the house is 300mm narrower than the drawings. We are more than half way through the build and this is not the first issue we have with differences between the drawings and the actual measurements however its the most significant. I feel my builders have had to focus on fixing these errors and finding solutions rather than focusing 100% on building. What can i reasonably expect from the architects at this stage? Hi, My new kitchen will have a very large window on one wall with very little space either side. This is facing the front of the house so I would prefer not to put anything on this wall. As it is open plan it leaves me with two opposing walls for the kitchen layout. Any ideas as to how I should do this?
