Windows Living Rooms

Internal window. .

Hi everyone. We have bought a new house with an internal frosted window between the entrance hall and the living room - see photo (ignore the cardboard, we wanted to see if blocking it up changed the light).
Would you keep it? Or block it up? I'm in two minds..I don't like it in its present form but worry blocking it up is eradicating a feature of the house.

I like it as a feature but I think it depends on whether you like the glass which now looks dated (imho) ….. so if you want to keep the aperture but change the glass you might conclude it’s cheaper to block it up entirely and replaster the wall

I like it, but it is a bit dated. Reed glass is making a comeback. If you don’t need it for extra light then I would block it up. If you do need it for extra light then maybe remove the wooden partitions and just have a clear glass rectangle instead. Glass room dividers seem to be quite popular in modern homes so here are a few examples.

Thanks everyone. The company I am using does have a lighter grey option but I didnt much fancy it, looked like it was trying to look metal or something. I'm not a huge fan of white upvc, that's what we have at the moment. I'm sure the grey will be fine and chances are after some time of living with them I might not even notice what color they are - hopefully too busy looking at our views .... or the rain! I'm off now to our local golf club which I'm told has the exact grey I'm talking about in their new lounge area. Might give me an idea. Fingers x'd I'll get it right.

Hi .. I am in the middle of a self build and I have a few questions that I am looking for a little advice on ? I am looking at light grey PVC windows (on outside) ..Is there a norm ? for what goes on the inside of the window teaming it with Off white Interior doors and similar painted skirting boards ? I am having trouble with the over all colour scheme of the inside of the windows, woodwork and internal doors ? Are there any rules here?

I don't think you will ever regret siting the sink away from the window as this, I feel, is always mistake No. 1 - what a waste of light!! I have divided my square kitchen into three: a "U-shaped", "ergo-thingamy" kitchen, a laundry, and a scullery. The two big windows cut the number of cupboards down drastically on two walls. The surface under the windows is a joy as I can work inspired by the view and the sink has a strip light over it central to the room. The doors are at diagonal corners. Do try writing down what is to go in each cupboard as this makes for a comfy to use kitchen in the long term. Enjoy.

I don’t like it at all. You already have a large window in the lounge to let light in. I would not hesitate to block it up.
