How to decorate wall behind fireplace
Comments (8)I love your room, but it isn't done! Find some jazzy art to hang over the fireplace in vibrant colors. Select a major and minor color from the art work and add pillows, and 3 accessories that are LARGE to place on three places in the book shelves. If you like what you see at that point you are probably done, but if not then I think a glass and steel cocktail table round or oval would add sparkle, interest, and function to your room.....it really looks nice....See MoreWall needs something - help!
Comments (12)I added a canvas to your pic so you can see what a long thin one looks like. I think that canvas would be at least 5' long and not sure how I feel about the distribution on the wall..it looks a little like a smile face :). But I do think maybe 3 square ones would work. They would be smaller and I would center it on your space and under the windows. I did yellow and an orange color so you can see the difference. If you are looking for abstract art feel free to check out my profile. Also for my two cents I put shelves where people are not standing and bumping against :)...See MoreLiving room accessories advice please
Comments (0)Hi I am decorating my living room, measuring 4.4 x 3.4, walls are painted white so its a blank canvas. At this point I have two couches, one navy velvet and a brown leather couch, I will add photos of these. I plan to have these facing each other, directly opposite each other. I also have an oil painting for the walls, I'll include a picture of that also, I am looking for some help with colour choices and texture ideas for cushions, throws and a rug. I am also struggling with ideas for other furniture I could add to the room. We moved into our home a year ago and we are slowly doing it up, we live mainly in the extension we built on at the back of the house which is open plan living/kitchen, but I want to make this room, which is part of the original of this semi D house, cosy and inviting. Somewhere for adults to come to read and relax. I love colour and am very open minded. I would really appreciate any advice people may have, Thanks Natalie...See MorePainting (Around) Picture Frame Mouldings
Comments (0)I've been abroad for 7 years, and I'm slowly moving into an older apartment in Boston. I have to buy all new furniture and decorations, so I'm taking my time to plan out a home I'll really appreciate. I love the picture frame mouldings in my new living room, but there are some features I want to accentuate and others I want to deemphasize. The paint job isn't great, and the walls have a very strange uneven texture with some obvious patching. They're currently eggshell or semigloss, and I want to paint them with a flat or velvet paint. I also want to highlight the mouldings and make it less of a pure white expanse. I'm leaning into the gray that's already there and am gonna attempt bit of an art deco feel with some gold decorations. To that end, I want to paint the walls with a very light grey, and I'd like to see what others think of my options. Real Photos (pardon the camp furniture): I Photoshopped 3 possible ways to paint the white walls: A: paint outside the frames B. paint inside and outside the frames C. paint everything except the top and bottom trim. If it helps, this is where I'm at with my plan in 3D: It's long enough to do a combo living/dining room. I haven't gotten any furniture, yet, so this is just FPO. I'm stuck with one of those wooden boxes with a grate over the radiator by the windows. This is my first post, so thank you for any advice!...See MoreUser
