Comments (16)A niche would be a good way to add some drama without infringing on your circulation space. It doesn't have to be deep to be effective. You can do one simple vertical rectangle, and line the back with a mirror, or add some colour with paint, wallcovering or wood. Comments (10)Hi Maria. It's a lovely kitchen and I must admit I like the white so would probably change the accessories. I would add a huge sunburst clock or mirror above the cabinets (can't work out if it's a clock or mirror above the fire). Add a statement light over the table. Try a coloured splashback behind the cabinets. Add some coloured stools. I would say paint the kitchen chairs but I can see they are good quality! If you do want to paint then either blues, violets or even a very soft grey if you add some coloured accesories. Comments (15)I think it might work better to have blinds on the wall with the smaller windows (perhaps in a plain colour) and have curtains on the main stretch of windows, using the existing curtains to replace the small roman blinds. This would allow the fantastic view to be the main focus. I do think plain curtains would work well here but you perhaps aren't keen to change them as they are new? Could they be used elsewhere? I also agree re moving the sofas so they aren't at angles, it looks a bit strange. Maybe try them in a u shape around the fire. Comments (6)Instead of doing something like a paint color, why not expand into doing something a little more bold and daring like wood planking or grass cloth, etc.? This will not only help accent your "neutral," kitchen wall color, but will also allow you to continue flow throughout the space and give you a more well rounded and grounded space. I would heavily consider doing something that adds not only texture but depth to the space, paint color is great, but accent walls are a thing of the past! I added a canvas to your pic so you can see what a long thin one looks like. I think that canvas would be at least 5' long and not sure how I feel about the distribution on the wall..it looks a little like a smile face :). But I do think maybe 3 square ones would work. They would be smaller and I would center it on your space and under the windows. I did yellow and an orange color so you can see the difference. Also for my two cents I put shelves where people are not standing and bumping against :)
10 years agoDo 3 similar framed pictures, no shelves please. Dust magnets and they are in the way for sitting and standing at table.
