We will be situating doorway to new downstairs bathroom (in converted garage) on the half landing step at bottom of stairs (where the mirror is on photo but actually at level of bottom step, one extra step being created at bottom of main run of stairs). The main stairs will be carpeted. I'm trying to work out what flooring the hallway should be and whether this can continue up the bottom step across half landing into bathroom....or whether bottom step landing would need to be carpet as the stairs? Haven't even decided on what floor covering hall or bathroom will be yet but first need to know if lvt can be used up a step?
