I am trying to master gardening. I need shade loving plants for my front yard. It is very shady because we have two old oak trees there. As a result, it is very hard to keep my grass growing. This year I will run drip lines and hopefully that helps. It also appears to me, that i may have some erosion issues.
Is it a yard or a garden? If grass is difficult to grow replace it with artificial grass or gravel. My front garden is gravel with plants. There are many shade loving plants such as Acuba, Box and Camellia.
I too have gravel in my front garden surrounded by low growing plants. It seems like your grass has too much shade so extra watering won’t help. Other shade loving plants you could try are ferns, doronicum, euonymus, skimmia, bergenia, hellabores and Brunnera Jack Frost. The RHS website will have more suggestions.
