Need ideas for family room
Comments (12)Actually neutral rooms are very classy :) And adding a hand-knotted New Zealand wool carpet such as the one I've pictured would add a lot of coziness and ground the space, while complementing your striped chair. Small accents of colour can be added in artwork and on new sofa cushions. The fireplace makes a bold statement in the room, which could be compromised by giving the walls equal weight with bold colour. I understand that this is your family room, where you will be relaxing at the end of a long day and watching television. Therefore a calm, relaxing (yes, neutral!) colour scheme will achieve that. The charcoal grey drapes I described above should have lining, and they will add to the warmth of the room at night so you're not looking at cold black glass that's reflecting the room back to you. The colour scheme you have now is actually very nice--it just needs punching up a little with additions such as I described....See MoreNeed ideas for how to furnish this room
Comments (4)Thank you for your comment, The fireplace looks so bare, originally there was a huge surround and I couldn't believe the size of the actual grate when it was all removed. I had wondered if I should have had the piece of granite hearth extended to the wall and built a narrow bookcase by the chair. I will definitely get a mantel. No tv yet, don't know where to put it,? There is a tv point in the corner to the left hand side of the couch, just under the window. Thanks again,...See MoreNeed help! Paint colour and ideas for large kitchen wall.
Comments (10)Hi Maria. It's a lovely kitchen and I must admit I like the white so would probably change the accessories. I would add a huge sunburst clock or mirror above the cabinets (can't work out if it's a clock or mirror above the fire). Add a statement light over the table. Try a coloured splashback behind the cabinets. Add some coloured stools. I would say paint the kitchen chairs but I can see they are good quality! If you do want to paint then either blues, violets or even a very soft grey if you add some coloured accesories. Do make sure the colour blends with the lounge though as you can obviously see through....See MoreNeed help with designing my stove fireplace
