Any ideas for final touches to this living/dinning room?
Comments (51)Just a quick note to thank you all for sharing your thought, ideas, experience and time. I especially want to thank Bluenan and decoenthusiaste for being with me through the all process for the last 6 months or so..., just wanted to post few photos of the results (https://www.houzz.com/discussions/any-ideas-for-final-touches-to-this-living-dinning-room-dsvw-vd~569586) as I feel it is not only me who created this space but it is your creations as much as mine. It may not be perfect or according to the the "Rules", but it is Me and my family. Each and every piece was chosen by me in different parts of the world and each one of them has a unique story behind. I am very pleased with my space. I love it! I am very blessed. .... and so I am off to my new project now... Back to school.... that's really going to be hard ;) Thank you all, once again....See MoreNarrow Kitchen/Diner/Family Room
Comments (3)Not quite for the kitchen. Sorry, I should have drawn it...the units set on the bottom ŵall are correct but just in a straight line..The other part of the L shape is on ŵall B on your plan. The dining table would be in front of the units on the bottom ŵall. If unclear (quite possibly from my description!) I'll post a pic tomorrow...See MoreHelp needed for TINY Tv room. Comments (5)Hi. I think a Chesterfield would be nice, you can find some small ones c5ft or so which will allow for a narrow lamp table or trunk. I'd go for a ŵall to wall bookcase behind the sofa with a couple of ŵall lights affixed. I don't know what styles you like but perhaps french doors painted in a dark grey to give a crittall look. Does the tv fit in the alcove if you were to add shelves and then add art over the fire with a large mirror on the ŵall facing you? I would keep colours light (is the kitchen grey?) and although it would fill the space a little I might add a narrow upholstered footstool which you can use as extra seating and/or add a tray on one half which you can accessorise...See MoreFamily Room Wall Dilemma
Comments (0)The lower walls are knotty pine planks (5-1/2" x 3/8" x various lengths) installed years ago. They were whitewashed a few times and now fairly white. Ceiling was recently raised (vaulted ceiling with 2 exposed trusses). My delimma is that I cannot find the same thickness or width of pine planking and it doesn't look like I will be able to. I wanted to continue this diagonal pattern all the way up. Now unsure what to do. Whatever I do, I want to make sure that one's eyes will continue to be drawn upward since I have lived with a 7 ft ceiling for way too long! I'm not really wanting to paint the drywall upper area white, but maybe. I generally like a contemporary look, but the exposed trusses just spoke to me when we opened the ceiling up. Not sure how to finish those either. Any ideas, no matter how far out they sound would be greatly appreciated. At this point, I am just stuck and can't finish this room....See MoreCrystal Day
