Our lounge has open plan stairs running width ways and behind the stairs is a stud wall and door into kitchen.
Problem is lounge is dark so my idea is to part move wall and door into kitchen so it brings light through keeping same kitchen layout but new units/worktops/ sink/ oven so I can see into the rear and front garden from the lounge and cook/socialise more easily.
Main question is would this be allowed under building/ fire regs?
Alternative would be to knock wall down from kitchen into part integral garage but this would be far more costly and would lose garage/storage.
Not very good at sketching so have sent lounge pics you happy to answer questions.
