Flooring Advice Please

I am currently renovating my first period property and I'm looking for some advice on flooring. I am starting to renovate both the hallway and the lounge first leaving the kitchen and dining room to next year.

My question is if i put herringbone flooring in the hallway and lounge and have different floor in the kitchen/dining room next year, would this look jarring? (see pic of hallway below and where it meets the kitchen, lounge to the left)

I've read that flooring should flow through the house however I dont really want herringbone in every single room and wanted to choose a different wood for the other rooms. Any advice would be much appreciated

Hi,

I hope the renovation is going well!

To answer your question - No, it would not look jarring.

It is becoming more and more common to have one or two feature rooms using the herringbone style and to use straight plank in the other joining rooms.

With regards to the flow of the flooring, once the woods are of a similar colour, this should not be an issue.

You could create an ensuite by borrowing space from the second bedroom, accessing it from the master. I would create one large luxury family bathroom by joining the current bathroom and the adjoining room into one. If you don't want to lose a room, you could swap the purpose of the two rooms, creating a medium sized bathroom and a small box room/study (expensive for some benefit). Lastly, if you really want to maintain the number of rooms but gain a bigger bathroom, you could move the family bathroom to the bottom, right-hand room, if plumbing allows. Hope this helps.

Is the house on a slab or is it raised? Wood throughout is always a gorgeous pop of color since you are leaning toward a light wall color. Have lots of space and am looking for 8 seater min, with perhaps extending to 10. Rectangular or Circular, but think rectangular would work best.
