Sliding or bifold costs

Hi, we will be soon starting our kitchen extension and struggling to decide if it should be bifold or sliding for a 4.5mtr width south facing opening into garden.

appreciate some suggestions as how much it may cost for a 2/3 panel sliding door or a 4/5 bifolds what kind of warranty to expect and any recommendations for supply and installation around London/Surrey/Kent border.

It really depends on the quality/supplier you choose. We’re just about to have ultraline sliding doors put in - very similar opening size. We chose sliders because we have a lovely view so wanted to minimise blockages to the sight line. We also felt that, although we’d be sacrificing the ability to open right up, in our climate that would realistically only happen a few days a year. So the sight lines when the doors are closed are more important than the opening. We also didn’t want a big stack of doors at the side, when open. I would suggest that you think carefully about what’s most important to you, how you’ll use the space etc. Decide on the function on the doors rather than get hung up on what’s cheaper as there isn’t much in it really. Then set a budget (as a guide, ours are around £11k. There are more expensive and cheaper doors out there, both sliders and bifolds). Then start approaching companies for quotes (you can call them for a ballpark price in order to home in on the ones that are right for your price range) and crucially, make sure you have a chance to touch, see and open the doors before you buy.

Hi. I think the overall look is good. Large tiles do make a room feel bigger as the pattern is less busy however I've seen the hex tiles in small bathrooms and they seem to work as your inspiration pic shows. I would probably lose the flowers though if I'm honest. Do you want the window for light or ventilation? Could a decent extractor be sufficient? I'm thinking that back ŵall could look quite busy. Is there any opportunity to change the layout? Moving soil pipes can be a little costly but could the sink be moved although ideally the loo would be hidden round the corner. You can pick up some great looking vintage or vintage style taps on ebay although unsure if the quality of the repro ones, If the layout can't be changed maybe have a corner loo and ŵall hung trough sink and put some storage in on the rhs as you come through the door depending on how you plan for the shower to open

If it all fits in then why not. I don't think the desk will go with the bed or maybe it would work it the desk was painted. Do you need the desk or could you use a smaller console table for working/doing things from ? Not a fan of sliding doors would rather swop the door so it opens the other way if space is an issue. What is going on the shelves are they needed ?

I think it looks great so far. Many of the ads for claw foot tubs, and magazines, show them with encaustic/cement tile and plain white surround. Also, you did something creative and attractive with the tile layout. I love the nickel shine of your clawfoot legs too. If you can maybe get a corner shelf on one side of the wall, you'll have a place for soap, candle or bubble bath. And maybe hotel towel holder on another wall to get the height up.
