Bifold door dilemma!

We have recently knocked out a wall separating the (newly refurbished) kitchen from the dining area. Our builder was asked if we could hang a bifold door which would sit flat against the side wall when opened which he said would be no problem.

They are wooden doors with 4 panels of glass and are already made! He is now telling me it is not possible as the frame will not hold the weight of the door. Is there any solution to this. He suggested parliament hinges and but the carpenter is still maintaining that there will be too much weight on the hinges when opened and against the wall.

Is there any type of rotating ball type device that the weight of the door can sit on to support the hinge and that can move easily when opening and closing?

Any advice is much appreciated
