Master suite layout

Hello

We are currently extending our house to include a new master suite.

After the work is complete, we will have a four bedroom house - the master suite plus three other doubles, and a family bathroom.

I’d appreciate thoughts on the best possible layout of the master suite. We’d like to have a feeling of luxury and space.

Some things to consider:

How big should the en-suite and walk-in-wardrobe/dressing room be? The full room is 5.4m x 5.5m and we can play around with where the internal stud walls are.
We definitely want to make sure that the dressing room can accommodate all of our clothes. It will also need to include space for a radiator. It would be nice if it's big enough to get dressed in there, but it's not essential.
We want to make sure the en-suite feels spacious and not pokey, and we’re wondering whether we should include a double sink to give that extra feel of luxury?
Where should we position the door to the en-suite? Should we have a separate door to the en-suite, or go via the dressing room? It could be nice to step out of the en-suite, straight into the dressing room (rather than having to walk around the bed), but this means the dressing room would need to be big enough to accommodate one of us walking through, when the other person may be in there picking out clothing.
We’d like the main bedroom part to feel spacious and airy. But as we’ll have a walk in wardrobe/dressing room, we won’t have much furniture to put in the bedroom part, so don’t want this to be so big that it feels like empty/wasted space.
We're not set on having a walk in wardrobe / dressing room, if it works better to have the wardrobes in the same space as the bed.

Any thoughts on how best to lay out the master suite? I’ve attached two possible designs as a starter for ten. I've also attached the plan for the upstairs overall, so you can see that there's a little flex to move the door into the bedroom from the landing.

Any ideas would be very welcome. Thank you for your help.

Have you considered these as options?

The idea of keeping the dressing room and the en suit together is a good one but there are too many doors and walkways so I simplified it. I also moved the bad so you can have a grand inviting headboard to welcome you to the room with space to put some comfortable chairs

And some more options. Less boxed in functions, but also less walking around the bed by both (just one haha). Toilet tucked behind the shower (pony wall or satin/opal glass separation), so one can sit all relaxed while other brushes teeth, only requires a good extractor. ;) Either double sink, but my advise would be a wide vanity with an offcentre sink.

Ceiling height closet space on both landing side as bathroom side (his and hers?), window seat with drawers under along the 'bottom window'.

All ceiling height closets along the old wall in the second layout (double function is soundproofing), dresser on the landing bit.

Hello Emma, What about if you were to have the study room as a study/bedroom... You can buy beds that slide out from behind a book case or shelves for example.. A double would fit and then why not consider making the walk in wardrobe slightly smaller in favour of a dual access En suites.. If you were to divide the room in half.. Have sliding doors from both sides ie current side and from study side.. You can divide the slightly bigger en-suite room and situate a small shower, back to wall loo and small wall hung sink in both sides.. With back to back plumbing. Then you can sell the property on with the idea of two possible bedrooms.. or as a study with it's own shower room for guests that stay on occasion... Small bathrooms can be just as spectacular as spacious ones, but at any rate it gives you more options as there is a full sized bathroom anyway.. : ))

Can you change the entrance in the small ensuite to service the back bedroom; then convert the small bedroom into an ensuite for the master bedroom? If you move the wall on that room right out to the door of the master bed you'll gain, in guessing, 300mm. Ensuite at 2m*2m would be large enough, you'd then have the space for a narrow walk in wardrobe 2m*1.2m, giving a walking space 7/800mm wide, just big enough. To get natural light in the you could put glass in part of the partition walls up high, both at landing side and ensuite side. Alternatively, make small room into a jack and Jill, big saving on cleaning and make old ensuite into wardrobe.

Hi there I’m hoping for a bit of advice on the en suite layout. I have been flip flopping with this and not sure what will work best. Shower is 900 x 1200 and bath is 1700 - not sure if I’ll go with double or single vanity- there’s a skylight over this area which is about a metre. I don’t want bathroom to feel cramped but conscious there doesn’t seem to be much room for storage. Pic of drawing attached - other idea was to put shower along the other (2200 wall) and turn the toilet to the side. Spotted a picture of this idea and liked the look of it but I’ve no idea if my space is too tight! Any suggestions very much appreciated! Thank you

Option one if you access the ensuite through the dressing room your clothes willalways be getting moisture from the ensuite and smell dp
