wooden countertop

we are planning on putting in a wooden countertop but I have heard there is alot of upkeep over the years. Has anyone regretted putting one in?

I have a white corian and love it. It brightened the kitchen so much. I think the Only thing you can set hot pots on is ceramic tile. I have made trivets out of pretty tiles. Go to the store and find a tile you love buy one or two and then cut felt slides that stick, like for the bottom of a chair leg or buy precut ones. These are great! I use them on lots of things. They are under my coffee pot, toaster, large cutting board, garbage bowl I keep on the counter, anything I move that's kind of big or heavy on the counter. Corian requires no sealing. Only thing that has thought about staining so far was grated carrots, or the skin gratings from carrots. But then I just worked on the spot lightly with a scotch bright pad. I saw somewhere that someone else tried a mr clean eraser n corian. Staining in my integrated white sink is zero. Installed in January 2013. I have had corian in a previous house with no problems also.

Kitchen's suffer from extreme humidity variation, so you should fully adhere the solid or engineered flooring to avoid a bowing/warping floor in a few months time However, here's another viable option; luxury vinyl tiles (LVT). Generally, LVTs are 2.5mm thick, made from 100% pvc (therefore waterproof), come with a thick polyurethane wear layer that normally is backed up with a manufacturers warranty, with a wood or stone effect finish. LVTs are great with underfloor heating and unlike ceramics, they don't break when heavy objects are dropped on them and unlike wooden floors, once laid, LVTs need no further maintenance other than regular vacuuming and washing. LVTs are almost indestructible! There are many options available but us Flooring Gurus recommend going for a recognised brand. The whole idea about an LVT is for it to look authentic. They need to genuinely look like the wood or stone flooring they are mimicking. Cheap alternatives, when installed, look ... well ... awful! Try looking at Polyflor's Colonia and Camaro. Thank you soo much for your compliments. It makes me happy as we did everything ourselves (took a while since only had sometimes time during the weekends). id love to see your kitchen as soon as you have the bodbyn installed. What colour countertops/backsplash, floors do you have? can buy a small “tester” can/container and try it. Can always be painted over. we really dont have much exposed wall directly next to the cabinets... except for the 15”deep (island against the wall). we have large opening above that “breakfast” counter to the family room (so as we sit we can watch tv that’s over the fireplace.). That room we also decided to paint the same as the kitchen. would have been too tight to have an island in the middle of the kitchen.

Personally, I would rather not have the space between ceiling and tall units - would take units right up to ceiling. Something just doesn't sit right with me with regard to spacing- in particular the very small space to the left of the hob. Like others I feel there are too many colours and would have had the island in a grey - but I love the colours of the walls. I like the shelf - but not pushed in the corner like that!! One of the first things that caught my eye was the different colours of door and window frames in the house- I would have kept them all the same.... Not going to mention the stools!!!! I love the rounded units and would have opted to have rounded edges on the island to be in keeping, personally. Finally, this all sounds rather picky but we all know it is down to personal taste and overall it looks very nice. THANK YOU for allowing us all to put our two pennith in and our would be designer hats on..... I love these articles and it does give us food for thought!
