Open Plan Kitchen/Living/Dining Design Dilemma
Hi everyone, hoping you could help a girl out! Yesterday we had our kitchen (partially) installed (image attached). As you can see, the kitchen is pretty dark, and the floor have a marble effect. We (think) we're going for the Miami White Silestone Quartz countertop+spashback (however, feel free to suggest an alternative). I would really love an oval dining table (that seats 6 pax minimum but don't know in what colour) and wishbone chairs (again don't know in what colour). For our sofa I would really love the BoConcept 3 seater Modena sofa (I would love it to be in a white/neutral colour but I know it won't be practical) and as a TV console I would like to do this DIY: https://lonefox.com/blogs/journal/diy-woven-cane-storage-console. We have a large 5 meter sliding door that brings a lot of light to the room, I intend on hanging white ceiling to floor curtains.
I would really, really, really appreciate it if you could help me create a moodboard as right now I feel like I am mixing too many styles that do not necessarily go well together.

3 years ago@minnie101 oh gosh that's so nice of you to put together! I want an oval dining table maybe all white... Or would it contrast too much with everything going on in the room? Or maybe white top and thin black legs... Dunno I'm so confused honestly!

Comments (11)I agree with everything said so far. Would suggest you get built in book shelvers on both sides of fireplace, lift tv into a slot it fits perfectly into (make sure you have power on both sides). Then it will disappear more rather than fight with fireplace as focal point. I am always disappointed with mirrors over fireplaces, they become dark, are to high to reflect much. Plus then you have three rectangles fighting for center stage. I'd say very colorful artwork instead. Wonder if you can reorient tv where the big chairs are so both tv and fireplace are addressed? It involves knocking walls etc. but when finished I will be left with a space 20 ft wide x 16.5 ft long leading off a living room & separate corridor to a garden. Room height will be 8ft. Comments (4)A few things I would change from experience...instead of a single and double door I would spend the extra money and put in a bifold corner section...would open up the space so much more. as for the kitchen...completely flip your design...put your breakfast bar closer to the window...make it large and multipurpose with the hob in it and then put your main band of cabinets either left, right or behind? Comments (0)We recently put on an extension to our kitchen and although I'm not so much having trouble picking colours for the walls there, I do however find it difficult to match up the dining and living all of which are open plan .. the sofas in the living area are removable covers, one set taupe and the other set white, no problem there but my curtins were expensive and I'm reluctant to change them at the moment so really want something to tie everything together ..they are autumnal in colour ...I'd appreciate some advice on paint colours for the walls they dont have to be the same but would have to tone well together ..Thank you...See Moreaimeemuscat

3 years agoWhat do you think of this table? It comes with different tops and leg finishes but is 240cm long, not sure if that’s too big or ok? (Spookily they used the same light I did 😂). I can’t get an image of the white top with the dark legs hence the blue.
