need help with open plan kitchen /living room

Hi there , have recently renovated kitchen/living room to make it open plan and brighter . It is just at the basic stage at the moment , have added new ivory kitchen units , granite work tops which has a tiny silver fleck on it when light catches. need help on choosing color for walls, window blind . Also in the living room have added a Boru insert stove with black granite hearth.What type of mirror to put overhead the fire place ? Couch will be replaced , need help with color and accessories.. thanks so much , would be open to any kind of suggestions,.. i did paint kitchen walls a mocha color which was soooo wrong, it looked like the walls had just been plastered hence the white undercoat on the walls now. thanks folks

Comments (2)Hi, One of the possible plans is to block off the window and put tall units with eye level ovens, larder, fridge freezer etc. keep the sink run in a straight line with sink, dishwasher, pull out bin and in the island put in the hob with drawers underneath. Either put in ceiling mounted extractor or a downdraft depending on what stage of build you are at. Hope this helps, we are in Northern Ireland if you but do work throughout the uk. Comments (0)Hi, We're looking for some design options for a house we are planning to buy. We love the house location but the kitchen \ living area is proving to be a bit of a dilemma. There is a lot of glass in the kitchen area with full length windows to the front and rear which limits the options for layouts. We had a kitchen design prepared but are unsure if this really makes the best use of the space - it includes a corner dining area which while using the space feels a bit cramped for a family of 5. Due to the door position into the kitchen the builders design looks odd as they have placed the kitchen table right in line of sight of the front door so placing the table there seems a no no. We want to have an island in the kitchen ( its plumbed etc for one ) which we can have up to 5 high seats around which is in the design. We would like to have a TV in the room ( again limited places to put one on the walls due to the glass ) and would like some suggestions on layouts there also ( maybe the TV has to go ! ) - without something that completely blocks the access to the rear doors. Should i keep the walls pale in kitchen, all walls at the moment are undercoated white . And what colour couches would look good to blend in with the greige porcelain tiles and ivory kitchen? My husband would love black leather couches ( being male) but i'm thinking it might be too strong a colour . @olldbob . i love the attached photo and built in shelves ... i have a large area rug in mind which is soft neutrals and apple green and brown( see attached for ideas.) or black/green depending on the choice of furnishing ...
