It's not so much the bookcase as other problems I see in the room. Here are four things that could change your room at a relatively low cost: 1. Track lighting in the ceiling. Your lighting looks very minimal and no matter how gorgeous you make the room, if you don't light it properly, it won't look it's best. 2. Choose a bright, happy paint color for one of the walls, probably a wall you see from the doorway. It might be turquoise or coral or lime green. 3. It's doing its job just fine, but if you could turn some of the book into horizontal stacks, it could create a little more interest. If you're double stacking books, it sounds like you need a second bookcase, or one bigger one. If you do end up adding to your bookcase, it's nice to be able to display some objects, mixed in with the books.

Hi---ok, so you have some different styles going on, but I think it could come together-just needs some balance with color, pattern, and a touch of whimsy... :) The wallpaper (w/owl) is a good color to incorporate into the space-works well with the sectional, dining table, and floor. The art pulls the color palette together, is contemporary with organic/circular shapes---relates to both the sectional and table designs. Pillows-masculine and feminine balanced-color palette repeated. Check BM's Seattle Mist and Brushed Aluminum for wall color. Hope this is helpful. Hi, Moving into a new house which is currently painted white with white PVC windows. We're planning on replacing the windows with Aluclad windows and I was looking for suggestions on colour combinations. Initially, I was thinking that I'd repaint the house white and go with Anthracite Grey frames. However I'm a little worried that it's very fashionable at the minute and might date in the next couple of years. I've also seen a few houses lately with lighter coloured windows which looked good. One had a grey with what looks to be almost an olive undertone with the walls painted a deep creamy shade. I'd be really interested to hear what colour combinations other people have gone for and whether I risk dating the house as '2016' with a white/dark grey/anthracite combination. I'll post photos later of the house as it is currently and a mock up of the house with dark grey windows. Thanks a million!!

Hi there, we're in the process of renovating our kitchen. We've painted our kitchen presses and breakfast bar ivory (previously pine) and walls taupe. We have a very high (internal) cooker wall and have been thinking about how to finish this. I originally planned to do a run of tiles to bring it in line with height of fridge but think that would be too utilitarian. Have been thinking about installing an overmantle unit instead in line with pantry door with black subs but its a costly option for something that's largely decorative. Interested to hear what others think and if there are other options that would work well. Thanks!! PS my mock up is a bit rough - the unit would only be 300-350m deep so half the depth of the worktops.
