Design Dilemma Hallways Living Rooms

Hall -living room Design dilema

I have been working on renovation design for a 1960 house. After considering lots of options, i have narrowed my choice two option-1 and option-2 below. The deilema is wheather to go for the small tv wall & big toilet WC option or for the bigger tv wall & smaller toilet option. Do you see other advantage and disadvantage of the options? Would share with me your thougts and the reason behind?

My gut instinct says ‘2’, because the end of the corridor in ‘1’ seems like dead space. Looks like you’ve still got plenty of room for a TV in option. I feel as if option 2 also gives plenty of useable space in the hall for coats/shoes etc which I personally like.

Hi Marie. It's difficult to tell how wide the room is but a round table could work at the foot of the stairs. Dress with a large bowl and plants/flowers etc. you could also try hanging 3 chandeliers or pendants down the hall. I would also have either 2 matching consoles opposite each other by the front door or keep your existing and add some seating opposite to create symmetry. I think if you were to dress the console with bigger items it would stand out more ie ginger jars on the bottom shelf, classic urns, plants etc on the top. Once you've got the basics done and budget permits, you can add further floor standing decorative pieces, a small chair etc. I think you definitely need some tall art by the front door though or even mirrors if you're not keen to add art

Dee, I think 2manycats has nailed it for you. Rather than thinking of this as a window, think of it as a backlit (in the daytime), rectangular frame! The large, stained glass is a great option! Even though it's physically hard and cold, the design/colors can provide the warm, welcoming feature you desire for your entry area. It will be fun to see what you come up with!

I really only need the sliding doors I think as I have the body of the wardrobe well worked out I have ended up with needing 6ft by 6ft sliding doors and a few accessories for inside as I already had the poles and my husband is a chippy so he helped me with the body of it. Can you still help me, I hope so.

Our kitchen was fitted today and we are delighted with the design BUT so disappointed with the colour. It looks peach instead of beige.....it is a very bright room and the light seems to be playing a big part. Colour is Dulux Pale Mink. Any suggestions for wall colour that may tone down peach? At the moment it is cream but I think it now needs a darker colour. Any advice would be so appreciated? Extremely disappointed and at a loss at what to do. Re-spraying is an added expense that we don't need!

Agree - and maybe put TV on the long wall, not opposite the window?
