How can I redesign/ decorate this bedroom

Want some ideas on how to decorate this bedroom- looking to have a dressing table and a big mirror. Want some ideas for feature wall behind bed.

Lovely big room. Can you give us an idea of what you like such as a contemporary look or something more traditional? Also do you prefer a light, bright room or something more moody?

Hi Louise, In a room like this I always like to keep the walls and ceilings ( including the small door and frame 1 colour...in this case a lavender. I'd start by finding colour chips that have the same colour as the carpet, and then go a few shades lighter but in the same tome. All baseboards and door to hall should be the same colour as the iron beds...off white. With the walls a colour you'll be able to see the pretty pattern of the frame. OR find a small scaled pattern of any of the shades of purple and the cream same as the bed frame) with the same fabric. Make custom bedding to match. In a small room 1 pattern works well everywhere. If you go the paint route, try to find fabric with soft gold, lavender, purple for a skirted table between the beds if there's room. You can put it on a cardboard table and base...found in some fabric or craft stores. Top it with a thin piece of glass ( Pier 1) and away you go.Don't be afraid of colour or small pattern in a small space, as you are going for the impact. Have fun! Shaila

Adding width BEHIND THE BED - with a headboard (which doesn't have to be a "headboard"; it could be fabric, collection of mirrors, collection of pictures, a farm gate!, small chairs or stools) across the entire width. Matching bedside tables/bookcases/chests/ with LAMPS - useful storage for extra books, extra bedding, etc. CURTAINS always warm up a room. People will always feel colder away from home - provide an extra blanket or duvet to add to the bed. I notice there is no WARDROBE. Not really necessary for overnight guests (provide hooks on the back of the door) but useful for storing your out-of-season coats, etc. There is plenty of room behind the door. Buy one on eBay and paint it to suit your colour scheme.

As the rest of your house is decorated in muted colours with the exception of the bathroom), I would stick with that. Duck egg/pale blues and pale greens or chalky pink would be very restful for bedrooms. Or navy blue looks smart with a neutral scheme.

Hi, it's a lovely room and you only need to make a few minor tweaks. The two accent pillows in brown in front of the bed pillows need to be removed. They are too large and shapeless. Remove the brown throw. Your bed linen is lovely next to the grey wallpaper. If you'd like accent cushions, I would go smaller, tailored and something with an a print in grey and white or a colour that pops. The grey objects on the side tables are lights? I would replace these with a silver base and white shade. Remove the objects from the window. You could add a mirror either over each side light or a rectangular version over the bed. Here's my room with a similar colour scheme. Have fun with your decorating!

The feature wall behind the bed looks a dark colour , so I would use high contrast light colours on that wall . For instance a large head board in cream or white and the same with art work .

Here’s some ideas of bright modern bedrooms. They’ve used off white or pale taupe on the walls and just added colour with the furniture and bedding. Is this the sort of thing you like? The last picture uses a bit more colour but only in the bedding.

Love the dark furniture and ceiling fan, giving it a tropical vibe.

A soft grey more girly look,

Gorgeous taupe panelling which the bedding echoes.

Chucking some contrasting colour out there!
