What would you do with this kitchen? Help!
Comments (16)You need some kitchen accessories kettle etc that tie in with the red and also some artwork. The red you have chosen looks on my monitor to be a cool red, perhaps a bit of a warmer shade would help. i would also extend the dining area curtains down to the floor, they will cosy up the space, as would a statement rug to give a bit more life to the room. If your living room is green then it may be nice to have some token green of the same shade, somewhere in the kitchen, a plant or some artwork, and add a bit of the kitchen red to your living room, so that there is some continuity of colour in your home, as opposed to having two separate colour boxes and never the twain shall meet.....See MoreOpen Plan Kitchen/Living Room
Comments (5)Thanks for your comments. I think we've decided on wooden flooring throughout the open plan space but it's just what we do in living area. We had wanted carpet to get that warm cosy affect. We are considering under floor heating but I understand that can be expensive. I know we can put a rug down although I'm not sure whether that will have the desired warm and cosy feel. The other option is to fit carpet in a rectangle or circle shape in the living area. Just not sure how that's going to look and how best to join it to the wood so that it looks good. I've not seen open areas with carpet and tiles/wooden flooring...it seems that usually flooring is the same throughout with a rug in the living area. Any suggestions? I attach a plan which shows what it will hopefully look like. The dining table will go near to the patio doors. The sofa will be in an L shape with the back to the kitchen on one side and the other back to the dining area on the other side. Any flooring ideas would be appreciated!...See MoreLooking for some suitable colours for this kitchen
Comments (7)This is a very small and dark kitchen I would defo change the colour of the units to an antique cream and the worktop a darker colour maybe walnut and paint those double doors and the window sill white to match the other wood work also get a smaller round table it would give you more floor space the chairs you have would still work and maybe add some splashes of acidy colours lime green/orange or yellows not too much just a few touches. also Jacksplash is correct about the blind if you are keeping a blind go for a straight edge one. if your budget allows I would also change the sink to a white sink it really reflex light from the window and brightens the room I did something the same with my own sink it doesn't have to be a Belfast sink you can get the same sink as you already have in white ceramic....See MorePaint colour advice for semi open plan kitchen/living area
Comments (4)Hi I notice your blind and lamp are Laura Ashley Pelham. Laura Ashley does a duck egg white, pale duck egg and duck egg paint colours. Maybe you could have the duck egg white as the predominant colour and use in both rooms but also use the pale duck egg or duck egg in the lounge, or add some wallpaper. Not sure grey walls would work with the kitchen units. Perhaps more of a taupe/warm grey would work in both spaces though....See MoreMaribel Fernandez
