1) What's the actual color and finish of the tile. Looks flat black but just confirming.
2) What size are the hex tiles used in the shower?
4) Subway tiles. Are they flat or beveled edges? Is the grout the same color silver as the hex tile?
3) Is the hardware black or some shade of bronze?
4) I can piece together my own materials from the above but if you have any specs/links on products you used I'd love to see them

Hello Kevin, thank you for your interest. The actual finish of tiles is nearly a full black, but not AS black as some tiles CAN be. It is a little matte, yes...it is NOT a glossy glaze. The hex main floor is a 6" and the shower hex is a 3" of the same matte black. the floor grout with black tiles is Laticrete #88 Silver Shadow while the grout used with the white subway tiles is Laticrete #42 Platinum. The hardware is a true black, not a bronze. while it takes away potential orders for me...;), I am happy to provide the vendor fo the hex tiles: The main spec here is Fireclay Tile out of San Francisco. They have incredible product and customer service. having said all that, I will make note that I designed this bathroom as well as two others, for same project, remotely! What about 6 massive pots? Two one either side of the bay windows and one on either side of the front door. (I too have a massive gray gravel drive way. Trying to plant through the gravel brings on a whole other set of challenges. Pots are just more practical, for me anyway.) I love those trees in the lawn area.:) And the green trim. Also, how would that bright area around the front door look painted a shade a bit closer to the color of the brick and stone areas?

Gosh, I've returned after a week travelling for work to loads more suggestions - thanks all! To respond specifically: - the house faces south so gets the lovely morning (and in the uk, sometimes the only) sun. - the husband has avoided putting plants in the planters due to maintenance and they're generally twee so comments here have confirmed to me that they will be coming out - love the idea of wooden boxes with the spiky plants and grasses - also like the concept of taking out the grass/bed/tree in front completely out and replacing with slabs - yes to lightening the windows - to the Barn company, I honestly don't mind the advice and I'd never seen sloping garage roofs. - nicking ideas from landscaping of new builds....great idea! - finally, Helen Scholes, I'm embarrassed about the spelling of kerb. You can leave the handrail the same distance from the wall as it is now. Leave it connected to the newel post at the top; remove the newel post at the bottom, and add what's called a 'return' to anchor the bottom end to the wall. Then add a couple of brackets going up the stairs. The challenge is that the return should match the profile of the handrail, in order to blend, but check at the home center or a lumber yard/mill to see if you can match it (take measurements/drawings/close-up photos, etc.). As for painting the stairs--be careful with "fun" graphics. The treads and risers need to be clearly defined and regular. For example, a plaid or check that doesn't match the tread and riser exactly at each step is a trip hazard and may not meet building codes. People need to be able to see the treads clearly even without paying attention to them. Walking is an unconscious activity and we need to make it as easy as possible. Confusing patterns are a menace. In NYC, they put new edges on treads on one stairway at one train station that were designed to make them less slippery. However, they also made it more difficult to discern the edge of the tread. In 6 weeks, more than 1,400 people fell down those stairs. Then they redid them. Over 90% of injuries on stairs happen during descent. I highly recommend Bill Bryson's great book 'At Home--A Short History of Private Life'. The NYC anecdote above came from Chapter 14--'The Stairs'. Fascinating and amusing book. My house is 100 years old, so I feel your pain dealing with the changes and additions that happened over time.
