I need help with paint colour for my living room and kitchen walls
Comments (15)We just painted a color called "Latte" over the dark red walls in our place and we keep thinking that someone left the light on! It adds that much light to the place as the red was just sucking out any light in the place. Find a color you like more for that wall and repaint...and/or maybe add a ceramic tile backsplash? It will make it feel brighter in there immediately as you will get a lot of light reflection. I love the idea of sage green with your cabinets....See Moreliving room inspiration
Comments (0)Hi there, I recently moved into a new house and am searching for inspiration for how to decorate my new living room. It has a cast iron tiled fire place from 1880 which will stay. It has high ceilings with picture rail detail. It is south facing and sunny but we plan to mainly use the room in the evenings as a grown up retreat from the chaos of family life. It also needs to accommodate the tv and storage for lots of books! We will probably keep the carpet which is light colored and neutral but everything else can be new, paint curtains, sofa, furniture. It’s a blank canvas apart from the fireplace. I would like a fairly contemporary style rather than traditional but I am not sure how that will work with the old fireplace. Would love to hear some ideas! Thank you!...See MoreHelp! how should I arrange my living room furniture?
Comments (0)I'd love some advice on how to arrange my living room furniture, starting with a completely blank canvas. The room will be used as a child-free retreat, mainly in the evenings for reading, watching movies and some entertaining. The window faces south east so it is bright during the day and looks over the front garden. We will probably get built ins around the fireplace to store books. I am thinking about getting a corner sofa oriented towards the tv on the right side of the fireplace but I am worried then that the wall opposite the window will just be blank. I'd like to put a chair there too but when you are entering the room I think it will appear to stick out a lot. What could I put on that wall? Could I orient the room the opposite way by putting the tv on the left of the fireplace or would that feel strange entering the room between couches? Would it be better if the door opened the opposite way? What size should the sofa be, given the room is 4.1x4.2m? I have attached a diagram of the room layout and what I am thinking currently. Any suggestions welcome! Thank you!...See MoreLooking for help choosing colours for a living room and dining room.
Comments (0)Hi, We recently moved into a new home and we're redecorating two adjoining rooms. It's myself and my wife at the moment, and in around 6 weeks there'll be a little one joining us :) Here's an album of the two rooms with a floor plan https://photos.app.goo.gl/w4d77HhJhGxuUdGt9 I've arranged to get the floors refinished over the next few weeks (once our 'lock-down' is over!). The room without the TV will be a dining room/office combo, it's south-facing. Generally, they are quite bright when all doors and blinds are open, but the windows are not huge so there aren't awash with light all the time. We're having real trouble deciding on a colour scheme. Could anybody offer any inspiration? For the furniture, the main thing we plan on keeping is the sofa, the rest is likely to be changed. Thanks!...See MoreJuliet Docherty
