red brick look?

How did you get the look of the red brick portion? Is it something like mortar-washed or lime-washed?

Hi Lauren, This is reclaimed brick... old clay fired and molded with wood forms. New bricks aren't built the same way and don't have the character of reclaimed bricks. Glad you like the look! Cheers- FPA

I agree deepen the color, don't change it and yes art art art! maybe lessen the presence of the brick with the earlier suggestion of the metal cogs its and use traditional artwork pics/nature/paintings on the painted wall. I also like the idea to paint the part of the wall that juts out in a darker shade of the same color. Now you have lots to consider and lots to dismiss as well. Good luck and have fun

We are having the same dilemma, albeit we have a 1913 Edwardian red brick house. I've bought a dozen bags of gravel and still haven't found the right one. The golden gravel looks terrible, greys look depressing and pinks jar too much with the red brick! We are leaning towards Cotswold stone but I'm concerned this is too traditional (the rest of our landscaping is contemporary). I've concluded I don't like gravel but having spent £££'s on the rest of the landscaping gravel is my only option. Sorry I can't be helpful but sometimes it's nice to know your not the only one having a dilemma!

Hi, Just recently filled in a doorway with brick and the colours are not exactly right as the bricks are aged differently. Any help with darkening the brick and mortar? Does Yoghurt really work?? Thanks.
